Canadian Hershey's chocolate is orders of magnitude more delicious than "American" Hershey's, and I don't know why. It tastes like Symphony, and Symphony is supposed to be regular Hershey chocolate that is conched for much longer, so maybe that's the simple explanation. Or maybe Canadian Hershey has cocoa butter instead of PGPR.

I'm from PA, and I remember visiting Hershey, PA as a child and smelling chocolate throughout the town. It was glorious. These days, the factory is no longer in town, and the smell is long gone. It sucks when companies cut corners and ruin their products and reputations.

Is it me, or does hersheys taste like vomit?

I don't mean that as hyperbole or as a troll, but like....it actually tastes like....*vomit*. Never could understand how folks just gobble this stuff down.

It's not just you - some people are sensitive to the butyric acid that Hershey's (and other US manufacturers use) that gives them a faint vomit taste.

if you put this sour ass chocolate on the table for your guests I'm never coming to our house again.

the reason this incredient exists is because Americans wanted to make heir own chocolate but couldn't figure how 5o mass produce it at scale.

so we made it the way we make everything. Putting garbage ingredients and pretending it is 'premium'.

As someone who has been to Hershey twice in the last 5 years.... they still make chocolate in Hershey, and the town still smells like chocolate. The factory just isn't downtown anymore, so it tends to depend which way the wind is blowing. You can drive right past both the Hershey factory and, across the street, the Reese's factory.

No one values manufacturing anymore and doesn't know anything about it. People don't like factories and then they complain there aren't any good jobs.
With high coat of living and regulations, how can a company compete with a low cost 3rd world country that has zero of that cost? It is a much more complicated issue than placing simple blame on a company.
I've moved manufacturing facilities to other states and even in the US, the cost to operate a plant varies wildly.
