The vacuum experts say to never buy a Shark because Shark is one of the few companies, maybe the only company, that actively goes out of its way to prevent you from repairing their vacuums at all. They don't sell replacement parts, period. They use near proprietary screws (torx security bit) of various sizes that the vast majority won't have the tools for. They even make internal tabs for the exterior shell that snap together so if you try and take apart the vacuum it will break the tabs and then they won't fit securely together anymore.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uEat894ywQ

Also Shark's warranty is useless and is more of a scam. They only guarantee parts that aren't subject to "wear and tear". So hoses, belts, cords, switches, pedals, the entire floor head, none of those are covered. You'll discover that basically the entire vacuum is under wear and tear and nothing that commonly needs repairing will be covered.

So if you're ok with buying an expensive, basically disposable vacuum every few years then buy a Shark. I would never buy anything from a company like that. As for Dyson, the experts say not to buy from them either. I forget the reasons. I think it was because their vacuums are very expensive and aren't that well built for the price. If you have the money to spend on a Dyson you should get a "buy it for life" vacuum instead like a Sebo, Numatic, or Miele (although people say Sebo is better than Miele in almost every way). They're made to let you repair them and have great performance and warranties.
They had the Tineco c2s for 30 dollars on clearance at my Walmart about 6 months ago. My only regret is I didn't get another one or 2 but a woman who worked there starting taking them all and I guess hid them in the back before I could. It's a shame because there were a lot of them about 12 or 15. It's worth it at this price posted if you need a cordless stick vacuum. Filters are cheap and easy to find to
which is nice.
I got one on clearance at $35 in store few months ago and loving it! I somehow like it better than my Dyson especially the pricing and functionality I think it's comparable.

Are these disposable cheap vacuums really worth it? I have miele canister vacuums and one cordless dyson that's about 14 years old and somehow still going. But I could use one in my basement area

The seller is trying to hide how much pressure this vacuum can do in the description, so it must be really bad. Don't buy it, there are a lot of other good vacuums on sale at Walmart recently which do not hide their important metrics.

Vacuum wars on YouTube shows the budget tineco handheld models being surprisingly competitive with more expensive counter parts. At $70 for a c2, this is essentially disposable when it breaks.

i purchased this in january at walmart at clearance for 40. i bought 2 and i ended up returning one. i also own a dyson (purchased the tineco as the dyson was being repaird under warranty) and here are my thoughts:
1) suction isnt very good (likely due to small battery/motor size) but can handly small jobs. I think there is an issue with the bin design as dust/hair seems to clog towards the front of the bin and once clogged, suction decreases dramatically. The design of bin removal and trying to remove this clump (multi step process) is dirty and multistep and a pita. You would think i'd be inclined to keep one as backup for 40 but it wasnt (for me).

lastly, i did like how small/light it was (my 2yr old can work it) and do like the light on the floor attachment

Appreciate everyone's insights regarding this vacuum and how it compares. It sounds like it's not bad in a pinch, but overall might be worth spending a bit more to go with a more high end vacuum on sale (saw a post with the v8 at $168 refurbed a couple weeks ago). So for those who got this at $30-40 probably a great value, at $60-70 I suppose it's okay value given the notes mentioned here.

the trick here is batteries will fail or wear out, and unless it's some common battery used by many, or some big selling model, there's won't be aftermarket for it

Just checked CR. They rate a BL of Tincos ranging from $600 on down. They rate from near the top to the bottom. Didn't see the C2. It probably sucks. None of them are any good at carpets. One has voice control and some kind of dirt sensor to determine how much to suck.

I like your accidental puns. It Probably Sucks

To summarize, they both suck and that's why people want them.

Clicking the link and going to Wal-Marts website, they show a lot of other choices but brands that I've never heard of, anyone have any insight on the other choices?

I have two powerhero C3s . They work well and are both still going strong. You wash the dust bin filter once a month and replace every 6 months, you replace the hepa filter once a year. I have two kids, two dogs and two cats. The vacuums are great for surface cleaning on low pile carpet. If you want a deep clean I suggest using a full size vacuum. But for spot cleaning this is my go too and it is used multiple times a day everyday.

Before I ordered the C2 I called Tineco, and they have a replacement battery. Only problem is the battery is $70.00.

i bought a hoover for 70 that was popular enough to get battery support so can still find batteries aftermarket. but as people have said, this price is basically use it until it quits and throw away, you'll probably get 50 bucks worth out of it

How is this on hardwood floors, any insight on that? We have hardwood floors throughout, and it seems that all of them are great on carpet, not so much on hardwood.
yeah it's good on hardwood. In fact that's all I use it on.
