-DCF850 ATOMIC impact. this is currently the best 1/4" impact that dewalt makes [youtube.com]
-DCD709 ATOMIC hammer drill. decent drill. not as powerful as DCD805 or as short as the DCD799. it's somewhere in the middle
-2x DCBP034 powerstack batteries
-charger will either be the ancient DCB112 or the new DCB1102 compact charger. whatever you get will depend on your luck

don't start the 800th powerstack vs not powerstack debate. no one cares about your opinion. if you don't like them, you can flip them on facebook/ebay for $65+ for the pair, then get whatever you want. i sold the two i got from this kit for $80 cash on facebook

It's been this price for almost a month now… for $30 more you can get one with newer drill.

Those powerstack batteries are far superior though, in the original deal. I guess the value depends on the performance of each drill. Edit: and I now see I'm not the first to say this. Whoops sorry

You aren't going to do any heavy duty work with that supposed Hammer drill...

I've been trying to trade mine for the non hammer version for a while now. I'd rather have the shorter size and lighter weight than the ability to drill quickly through concrete. I'll just buy a rotary hammer should the need arise.

Considering that the dcd805, dewalt's flagship compact hammer drill is significantly cheaper than the non hammer counter part, the rest of the drill using world appears to think the same as you. Or, their sales seem to reflect this thought anyway.

I'm very green when it comes to power tools. Why is the 1.7 ah power stack better than the 2.0 ah max?

The type of battery in the 1.7 PowerStack allows it to provide more power to the tool and be smaller than a 2ah, at the compromise of amp hours available. I use the small batteries for small impact drivers and ratchets when working on my car for space concerns - they are great for that.
