Upon looking further, it appears like this is a much older version probably a decade old or something; Cuisinart came out with a slightly modified and enhanced version ICE-21 which is easier to clean and a better design(costs more).

Apparently the older version ICE-20 (this deal) is a pain to clean up and also due to a design constraint the ice cream either gets stuck or leaves the bottom portion slightly liquidly.

Assuming you're correct, then this version (ICE-202) is the version I own and have used for many, many years. Yes, it is inconvenient in terms of need to pre-freeze the bowl, but that's pretty normal for this style of ice-cream maker, which is the only style at this price point. However, I've also had not had either of the mentioned problems. This is a very simple, very basic, very easy to use machine. Same as very other machines of this type, freeze your bowl a day in advance and make sure your ice-cream base is as cold as your fridge will get it. Easy. Inconvenient in some ways, yes, but unless you're churning out a bunch of ice cream regularly, this is a pretty decent little machine.

Can you just dump a protein shake into this to make ice cream? Like the Ninja Creami?

Seems like a good deal; does anyone have experience with this particular model?

I've had this for years and it works very well. You prefreeze the inner tub before adding ingredients to it. An extra freezer tub is $39 on Amazon, so buying 2 of these at $28.80 each is a real deal if you want two tubs.

I have vitamix, wondering if this will provide any value over freezing ingredients in ice tray and throwing it vitamix? Can it compare to ninja creami?

I have this and among other ice cream makers. In truth, it will cost more just to make your own plus your time. Not to mention the cleaning and the storage. This one is a pain because you have to pre freeze the container. I have one that doesn't need to pre freeze but it costs more and it's bigger. That's just my two cents.

We bought one and used it maybe 5 times, after that it was sitting in garage for 5 years , then we gave it away

bought one about 10 years ago and it makes what i would equate to soft serve right out the container. if i want the ice cream more firm, i empty the contents from the mixing tub into another container and put it into the freezer for about 30 mins. when the directions are followed properly, the consistency of the product is good (smooth). if you have a zone in your freezer that's colder than others, put the tub there overnight.

not sure why people find it hard to clean - once it's done making the ice cream, i empty it out right away with a hard silicone spatula, then rinse it with water and let it sit in the sink to reach room temperature before cleaning it.

anyway, great price, considering i paid $40 for it over 10 years ago.

Do you want a thumbs up or a thumbs down for your poor decision on getting something you don't use?
