I solved that issue without getting an auto-empty base by making it my son's daily chore to prepare the house and vacuum before he's allowed his video game time.

The Eufy is a "smarter" robot with lidar navigation, so you can use the app to designate individual rooms for it to navigate to and clean as well as creating virtual barriers and "no-go zones" to keep it away from problem areas. The lidar also usually keeps them from bumping trim and walls as much as robots without which should cut down on scuffing.

This Roomba doesn't have those features, so it just vacuums as much of the floor as it can then goes back to its base. The app will just give you start and stop options unlike the floorplan view you'd get with the Eufy. That said, the dual roller and build quality on the Roomba probably make it a better, more reliable vacuum even if it isn't as smart as the Eufy.

Personally, I'd go for the Eufy with a multiple-room house or apartment, but robots like this Roomba are still great for simpler floorplans. Keep in mind that they're both budget offerings, so they'll both still get caught on clothes, cords, and any small objects in their path just the same. The Eufy just has better awareness of walls and large obstacles. Lots of people also like to mention self-empty bases on robot vacuum deals, but there aren't a ton of good options for that near this price point.

Looks like a solid deal but I don't know how it does with pet hair compared to the iLife vac I've had for the past 5 years (which has been awesome).

The next vac i get I'll probably look for the base that has the canister that it dumps into automatically so I don't have to empty it every day.

I bought this on the last deal --- for far less, btw. It's pretty cool, but it was no match for my dog hair. The great majority of the hair got stuck in the roller and never made it to the bin. I returned it.

Now, this is the first informative reply to this post. Great job!

Any info on how the i1 compare to other Roomba models?

Thanks OP.
