I priced out if you wanted to build a similar spec pc with 1200W power supply and Windows 11 pro license it would cost over $1600-1700

I cannot recommend omen computers. I got one 2 years ago that just started randomly shutting off. Support wasn't much help and they only warranty them for a year. Just feels to be cheap build quality. I'm in the process of moving the GPU, RAM and processor into a case with better airflow and reliability

Got my son an Omen 10L several years ago and it was a disaster. Video card issues, poor cooling, loud and underpowered. He's about due for a replacement, it won't be an Omen.
Everything you're describing are issues because you went with the Omen 10L, the Omen 45L will have a lot less issues just by the size and fans.

How could I buy a 45L which was released in mid '23 when I bought the 10L a couple years prior? The 10L was the top end at the time.

The 10L had liquid cooling, etc. just like the newer model, 45L.

Your problem happened because you bought the Omen 10L (side note, I can only find the Omen 15L on google), a computer that is approximately 10 liters. You're going to have cooling problems with whatever you stuff in there. Especially if you are putting in the top end specs of the time. They are extremely power hungry and thus generate a bunch of heat.

You could have purchased from any other company instead of buying a PC that is such a small size. I wasn't making a comment that you should have purchased the 45L at the time you purchased the 10L, it's a comment of saying that you aren't going to have the same problems with you decide to buy the 45L as your next computer. All you had to do was get a PC that's >25L and you probably wouldn't have had these problems, or as significant.

And just because the 10L (again, can't find it, only found the Victus 15L or an ASUS ROG Compact 10L) and it has water cooling doesn't make it as good as other water cooling solutions out there. An obvious one is the size of the water cooler radiator (120, 140, 240mm, etc.). Another one is the thickness and density of the radiator. Another is fan clearance. If you have fans pressed up against a surface, they can't blow as much air. Another is just general air flow of the case. And then of course there's the quality of the actual water cooler and fans but those aren't things you can easily gauge without looking at reviews, what I listed are constraints made by having a smaller case. I'm sure there's more. All problems that arise from buying a 10 liter case (or any small form factor case) and things you should have been aware of prior to making the purchase.

The previous poster is just trying to explain you its difficult to compare the small case of the 10L to the much larger case of a 45L which is significantly better for airflow and shouldn't have same fan issues and overheating as a 10L

There are only a handful of tech companies that I'd not buy from. HP is at the top of the list. Does this thing come with diamond-priced proprietary ink cartridges? 🤣

This is the best current/modern/up to date/ however you want to describe it this is the best legit "gaming PC" deal I've seen here in a while. I custom built at 7950x 4070ti 64gb RAM and lemme tell ya this set up pulls well over 100FPS on literally anything (@1440p)

But you would most likely have better quality and non proprietary parts with a longer warranty (albeit a PITA since each part is warranted individually). Both are good options and just comes down to preference and budget.

For the most part everything in this system is replaceable, it uses standard wiring for everything, it's not like a dell or alienware

I went back to my emails and found that it was actually a 30L.

Overheating was definitely a problem and we did indeed move to a larger case, replaced and increased the volume of fans with Noctua fans.

This was all right during the GPU shortage, merely finding a system was enough of a challenge. I mistakenly thought that I'd at least have a solid foundation of parts. The Omen line was riddled and well documented to have issues. I was in Amazon Vine, so I actually got the system prior to the official release, no reviews existed yet.

The entire experience turned me off the product line. They may have solved these issues now.

Ah, if it was the 30L then it shouldn't (in an ideal world where HP did its job) have those issues. I can't speak about how HP's pre-builts are now or how they were back then but that's definitely an issue that is plaguing the pre-built computer market. Can't blame you for hopping on a prebuilt with no reviews just to get a good deal on a GPU. At least if you buy another pre-built, you can bring over the expensive Noctua fans and make the next PC better!

Edit: If I am understanding correctly, you guys moved all of the components from the old Omen case and installed it into a new case and also installed new case fans? If that's the case, you and your son can try to build the next PC. It's definitely a daunting task from the part selection to dealing with the warranty/troubleshooting but you'll save some money and also never have to deal with poor manufacturer's prebuilts. Another solution of course is using your knowledge to just buy another prebuilt and just doing enough to improve any shortcomings that it may have as you already have.
