First off, not everyone can be a navy federal member. You have to serve in the military, be a dod contractor, or be related to a navy federal member. This card also has a $49 annual fee.

This isn't a new deal as far as I can tell but I've been shopping around for a "generic" cash back card for general purchases. All the deal sites that list the top cards didn't note this one, I'm guessing due to the fact that navy fed isn't open to everyone.

However it seems pretty competitive. 3% back on travel. 2% back on everything else. It also covers one year Amazon prime, cost of Global Entry (which also works for TSA pre), and $350 worth of points if you spend $3500 in 90d, plus visa signature benefits.

I know other cards have higher returns for specific type purchases, and one has 3% back for the first year, then 2%, and the wells fargo card is 2% with no annual fee, but if you want/use prime and/or global entry, seems like a good deal. It's potential stacked is $350 if you spend $3500 in 90d, $100 global entry, $150 Amazon prime = $600 in benefits that theoretically can be used in the first 90d.

Fine print here https://www.navyfederal.org/conte.../823cc.pdf

If anyone knows of a better "all purpose" card please chime in.

How is this post not fitting for SD? This seems exactly like the kind of info this site was made for hosting.
Since I'm posting a lot now, the last thing I'll say about this card, it that its likely to change in the next year to be better with a higher annual fee of $95 based on a survey NavyFed put out at the start of the year to ask if we would like the potential changes.

The current version gives Amazon Prime free one time in the cards life. The survey asked if we would pay more to have it every year plus the following tweaks.

4x points for travel (currently 3X).
3x for restaurants (new)
2x on everything else
Global\TSA stays.
Fair. I've seen cc deals posted here before and thought members might appreciate. If not, I won't be offended if it dies on the vine 😂

Very reliable company and 24/7/365 live agent support for the NFCU.

This is a point based card but Navy Federal points are valued at 1c pp and the best value is always cash back. So it's effectively 3% CB on travel and 2% CB on everything else.

My OP:

This is a post better suited for Reddit.

Overall though, this is a card good enough for vets who don't want to dive into having too many cards, luxury cards with high fees, or points churning for sign up bonuses.

Edit for context:

This card has been around for about 3 years and it used to have a 40,000 point sign up bonus (down 5,000).

Accepting that vets may not know about the card is what I give props to OP and its worth him having posted it but it's not a deal in that sense.

If we want to get into a convo about what other cards are better as mentioned towards the end, Reddit works better was my thoughts.

nah this is fine in Slickdeals.

I've been trying to figure out a way to join NFCU but I don't qualify. They opened it up to everyone a decade ago but have been strict lately.

If you are a nfcu member currently, check your emails. I had a 50k bonus sitting in there that I claimed.

You mean check email after you applied this new card? Or they just offer you 50k without doing anything?

You qualify. I would go to a branch to open the account. My father was in the Air Force and I had no problems.

I didn't show a copy of his DD214. I had some VA documents but the customer service rep didn't ask to see them.

I was able to join based on my deceased Father's service. I called them up and they only asked me a few questions. I had his paperwork but didn't need to submit . In branch or on the phone, you should be fine.

You do. My deceased father was in the Air Force. My deceased stepfather was Navy. I called a couple years ago and explained my situation and they signed me up. You may need to submit some sort of proof he served, but they can walk you through it. Now that I'm a member, my kids can join, and their kids can then join in the future and so on. It's worth a try, YMMV.

I mostly feel that anything goes. Then again, I also feel like a lot of these credit card "deals" are scammy and predatory. But it's not my position to judge what gets posted here; personally this isn't the sort of deal I come to this site when I'm looking for deals (but the same goes for things like buying through TikTok or using some of the other cashback hacks and stackable options). To each their own.

I will say as a Navy veteran who once had a Navy Federal account back when I was active duty... hard pass, I want nothing to do with this bank which gives credit unions a bad name in my opinion/experience. But, I am referring back to a bad experience I had with them nearly two decades ago so perhaps they are better these days.

What about "NFCU memeber" did you not understand.
My auto loan is with NFCU.

I'm not a Vet, I'm a DoD civilian. But I applied for the loan when I used to be a contractor.
