As far as I know, Amazon Basics rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries since around 2021 has been made in Malaysia, as confirmed by my prior 2 purchases in 2021 and 2023. They've been working well in my non-demanding uses. The made-in-China batteries before that had a bad reputation.

I just got my batteries, fulfilled by Amazon (Wilmington DE) but last-mile-delivery by USPS for some reason instead of the usual Amazon truck. They are the dreaded made in China, Jan 2023 mfd date, 6x shrinked-wrapped pack of 4. I guess Amazon has multiple suppliers and/or is switching back and forth depending on package size. Some older cells I have are from Malaysia, Dec 2020, shrink-wrapped pack of 6 (probably bought in May 2021).
