Decent price. Costco is selling the same system without the graphics card for $700 (they claim it's a $300 discount [costco.com]).

Literally on the page is the ability to upgrade the PSU for $50 - to a very good PSU. And add liquid cooling (that they use on the K series) for another $50.

Dells have issues, but the PSU and cooling problems you guys are mentioning are literal options you can change direct from Dell before you order - I don't even think you clicked the link.

Other than the higher wattage, does the PSU upgrade offers more? My understanding is they are both Platinum Plus rated, but I haven't seen detailed docs/reviews for either.

The clock speed of the RAM isn't an issue as much as leaving performance on the table by not running dual channel.
Switching to 2x8GB is a zero cost option. But there are only two DIMM slots, so I wouldn't go this way unless you never plan on upgrading.

Newegg has a 16GB stick of Crucial DDR5 4800 [newegg.com] for $45, shipped, less than 1/3 of Dell's 32GB upgrade price.

I have no idea what your specific computer can and cant accept
All i know is that dell requires specific graphic cards to work properly that made for dell xps desktops

The ram, you can use any ram brand same with ssd
You can put any PCIe graphics card in this Dell XPS desktop that physically fits in the case and does not consume more power than the 460w power supply can create.

You can get a 750w or 1000W Dell specific power supply for this case from Dell or ebay ect....
https://www.dell.com/community/en...a8de1a393c

This video card can be taken out and put in any pc and it will work just fine. You can use the standard driver from Nvidia, The only difference is you get the graphic's card firmware BIOS update from Dell instead of another video card manufacturer (i.e. Asus,PNY,. MSI, Zotac, ect...)

Yes this is correct
But thats why its important to hav atleast a 750w PSU or 1000w to allow the flexibility of adding different graphics cards. The current 460w like in this unit is a joke. I know, I own it lol
the 460W power supply works well for the CPU and Video card that are in this system. You need to keep in mine that the extreme majority of PCs (like cars) get few to no hardware upgrades once they are built. Very few people are comfortable with opening up a PC and swapping parts out, and instead rely on a local computer shop or the geek squad to spec out what they need and do it for them.

This case won't accommodate a 4080.

.
You can upgrade the video card to a 4080 (or 4090) right there on the configuration page.

The 460w barely works
I upgraded my ram and it fried the motherboard and dell had to come to my house (I have the premium warranty) and install a new motherboard then a new a bios update fried the motherboard again lol

All I'm saying is that it's better off getting a higher power supply
You added parts to the system, it stopped working, and the resolution was to replace the motherboard. This is the fault of the PSU how?

Dell from their diagnostic said the psu some how fried the motherboard when the new ram was added, idk maybe from the additional power draw and it was known issue. I really didn't care since they replaced everything for free and even came to my house within 24 hours to do the replacement for free because I have the premium warranty option (which btw I got for free for 2 years by chatting them prepurchase)

I have Dell 8940

Which is just a version older than this one.

It was Covid time and 3060 Ti was hard to come by.,,

1. Please upgrade cpu cooler. If you have not bought the Dell yet. Upgrade to AIO water cooler
Dell cases is used to mount the cpu cooler. You can not install any cooler afterwards… only certain type that uses m6 screw type

Dell uses weird shape motherboard. If you buy this pc. You will not be able to change the computer case

2. This is smaller case, fan choices are limited

3. My 8940 did not come with any front air intake fan.

4, Dell was being cheap and did not install any VRAM heat sink. It was only $10… if you do not buy K version of cpu, Dell will skip the heat sink

With recent Micro center deals… I would build one my self If I'm looking for a pc today.

Anyone who criticizes this deal seems to get blanket downvoted, there's some good info, though.

There's a non-retail motherboard, just about sufficient PSU which might need upgraded once you add a part, a case that doesn't make cooling all that easy compared to modern gaming cases.

It's still a good deal, but know what you're getting. It's basically fine if you're not intending to change too much to it.

I agree with upgrading the CPU cooler. The standard one is not sufficient. The water cooler looks like a deal at $50. Or you can upgrade to 13700K and it comes with a much larger passive cooler.

I bought this system last year and am happy with it.
