Looks like the new version of this TV is $480 at Best buy. Is the new version actually $130 better?

The u6 is 60 hrz refresh rate, up to 600 nits, no hdmi 2.1. The u7 is 144 hrz, up to 1000 nits, has hdmi 2.1. Those are a few differences but to me it's worth 130 more.

If your just looking for a tv for a spare bedroom etc u6 is fine but honestly based on that need you can find something else cheaper.

Just 120hz is worth $130 more, at least to me. I picked up the u7g for $300 in last year's refurb deal

What's the best 55" out there for under 400?

I'm tempted to get this but there are a few things holding me back:

1. There is no ATSC 3.0 support which isn't a huge deal right now but I suspect will be annoying to not have in the future
2. Almost all the reviews are incentivized so I don't really trust them
3. Hisense has a poor reliability/QA record
4. This years models of TV's are about to be released which should make the older models like this cheaper soon
5. The HDR brightness isn't that good

This is still the cheapest TV that has local dimming though the next cheapest is the 55U7K [bestbuy.com] for $480

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on this one, as I don't plan on competitive gaming on this TV so 60hz is fine for movies, Nintendo switch and PlayStation 4. Thank you for the input.

I've been watching U7 tv now for weeks. It was 580 a few weeks ago and went OOS at Costco. So now that it's 480 I'm watching Costco again since it's OOS and I would prefer buying from them. So hoping it goes back instock if not I might buy from BB.

There are some tlc tvs that are "good" I'd watch some reviews because certain things might or might not matter depending on the user.

For me it's the brightness. The room I'm looking to buy a tv for has a lot of light so the brightness of the U7 is worth it to me.

Yeah, I agree. I pretty much only buy electronics exclusively from Costco

Don't you mean usb 3.1? I thought the U7K had 3.1 meaning it's good for next gen consoles.

Same here, wishing it was in stock at costco but may have to settle for BB

Nah, HDMI 2.1 is the cable you output 144hz high resolution video with. Pretty unlikely (damn near impossible) that any consoles would jump to USB c video output only.

I mostly watch movies at night or with a darkened room, should be ok for me. I was interested in better black levels in mini led TVs though, we shall see

I had the U6K for a bit and the black levels were poor for mini LED, I don't know if it was a firmware issue but contrast looked way worse than my old U6GR which doesn't have mini LED. It was also a bit dimmer.
