I mostly watch movies at night or with a darkened room, should be ok for me. I was interested in better black levels in mini led TVs though, we shall see
I had the U6K for a bit and the black levels were poor for mini LED, I don't know if it was a firmware issue but contrast looked way worse than my old U6GR which doesn't have mini LED. It was also a bit dimmer.

Looks like the new version of this TV is $480 at Best buy. Is the new version actually $130 better?
If you mean the u7k that is not a new version on this model. It is a separate model. The new version of this one would be a U6N which has been announced, but to my knowledge not released yet.

Don't need those for my use cases, I've checked out a few things in this TV and it's been plenty good enough for me so far. A huge upgrade from my 2015 Vizio 1080p 42" black Friday TV. Lol

I bought this TV Super Bowl Weekend for this price. I've been really happy with it.
I don't really game much on it, it's just a movie/tv show device for me in my bedroom. Imo, setting it to filmmaker mode and forgetting about the settings otherwise, it has been really excellent. If you want it to watch content, and not game I think it's kind of an incredible deal for $348, you just aren't getting all the "game" specs. I have an LG C8 OLED and it doesn't wow with the contrast in quite the same way but the Hisense also doesn't detract from the experience of watching a movie either if that makes sense. We also have a 2022 Samsung Frame, and the light bleed and poor contrast on that Samsung make the Hisense look much better. But the color, contrast, brightness, local dimming, on the Hisense I think all make this a great deal, especially if you're just watching movies or your favorite shows.

Even for gaming... it does have VRR, just capped at 60Hz. But then, Playstation 5 and Xbox have several games at 30fps, and few and far between above 60fps, so I don't know that 120Hz is really the selling point we thought it would be 2-3 years ago.

All in all, I think it's a really great TV for the money, at least 2 months in. I guess quality issues could pop up. This is my first Hisense.

Our Hisense is super slow/unresponsive at times. Anyone know how this performs? Especially at startup, or opening apps, can take up to a minute to respond to remote. Also will sometimes lockup/restart. Also will at least once/day turn itself off, without the screen turning on. We notice bc the standby light goes off and the soundbar will turn on.

The Sony is no longer available and the Roku is $500 for a 60hz TV. Hisense U7K for 480 is a much better buy imo.

For the 144hz refresh rate, if you game on it absolutely, its a game changer literally. But if you're just watching movies, your not likely going to notice any difference.

The Sony isn't but every once in a while Secondipity will sell it for under $500. And the Roku and the Samsung UN55TU8300 are the cheapest recommenced 55 inch tvs by Consumer Reports.

I got the hisense 55" a65k from Costco at $280 is it worth the return hassle for the u6k? Just for a bedroom. This is mini led where the one i bought is just led. It's pretty slow but decent picture
