Costcos Kirkland motor oil is made by Warren. They also make the oil for amazon and walmarts supertech oil.
It meets the current API standards for motor oil.
Yes it works as well as most other synthetics out there unless you have some specific need/heavily modified vehicle.
Yes you can use 5w-30 in vehicles that call for 5w20 or 0w20. The 20 weight oils are for CAFE needs, not engine longevity. But its best to not use a 20 weight oil in a car that came with 30 weight when new.

Nah. Meets all major specifications for the newest engines. But have fun paying extra for the big brands so they can continue to bombard you with advertisements that make you buy their products and make you (wrongly) feel superior for having done so.

My friend has a 04 Corolla he has put 120k miles on the past three years. He bought the car with 120k miles it just hit 240k. He uses Kirkland and super tech synthetic every 3k miles. We pulled the valve cover to redo the head gasket 20k miles ago and the inside looked like new. It was so clean and not terrible wear. This oil is top notch. I would trust 7500 mile intervals.
Your friends's engine is clean because he did 3000 mile oil changes. Why on earth would you assume that more than doubling that would be a good thing?
Anyone have first-hand experience with storing unopened oil for longer than a year?
Pretty much everyone here. We are all horders for cheap good oil. There have been posts of people using 15 year old oil with no known consequences. 50 years from now somebody's gonna do a video of pouring this stuff in an ancient ICE engine at the time and it purring like a kitten.
yup...5 years no issues just shake it up some in case addictive s has settled.

Appreciate you both. I didn't think there would be an issue, but wanted to check.
This oil is quality oil by warren. Good quality oil with good lab results on bobtheoilguy. Just rebranded for amazon, costco, and walmart
I have read this in multiple places...worth adding that change interval is more important than brand or oil. I use whatever synthetic that's on sale and buy ahead for a couple of years....
Too much storage real estate. $16 5qt just buy as needed from Walmart $16.78 per 5qt jug synthetic blend. If it was $10 per jug...maybe. Live for today tomorrow isnt guaranteed!!!
Neither as you are just not an extreme one because time is money LOL

I uploaded you as I value. My time more than $2.00. Time is the most precious thing in the world that you'll never get back plus, I bet most folks aren't factoring in gasoline cost (assuming nine out of 10 people will have to drive there) this website is full of bots
For those whose vehicle takes 4 qt per oil change like mine (2012 RAV4 v4). The 12 qt (12-pack of 1 qt containers) might be a better buy. Though higher $ per qt ($3.2 vs $3.33) in comparison, you can get exactly 3 oil changes from the 12 pack & no concern about shelf life on opened containers. Although it makes pouring used oil a tiny bit more work/drippy.
I HOPE YOU'RE NOT PUTTING IN ONLY 4 QUARTS IN WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR OIL
2012 Toyota RAV4 with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine has an oil capacity of 4.6 quarts, including the filter. You can use SAE 5W-20 or 0W-20 engine oil, with SAE 0W-20 being best for fuel economy and cold weather starting.

Why take risk?

I thought the same! Why bother risking the intervals? Car can still crap out at other areas due to age, history, and condition.
