As cheap as you can get for a non-clearance. With Red card mine says $166. I did some fanoogling with Solo Stove deals last year and lowest I got was about $180 with the stand.

They were the first company to come out with these smokeless fire pits and established themselves as a premium brand. There really isn't much competition other than mostly knockoff or nameless ones. Until there is real competition, then yeah, prices will be high.

Steel + marketing. Higher end brands use more 304 / 310 in more areas than cheaper ones. Now do they rust, get dented like cheaper steel? Yes. Is it higher quality? Yes. Does it look good to show neighbors? Yes. Is it very functional and mostly smokeless? Yes

Yes, the deflector is essential if you want to use this for heat. I've experienced a lot of Solo fires and they put off absurdly little heat since it funnels it all vertically up into the air and not out around the pit, where you're sitting. Then if you try to stand close to it to try to warm up you run the risk of searing your skin against the super hot side of the pit. My son has a nice scar on the back of his calf from making that mistake.

If you're looking for a quality smokeless firepit made in the USA, check out Breeo. Yes, it's a lot more expensive than Solo Stove but there's is much thicker and doesn't rust and will 100% last a lifetime.

Tiki brand did the smokeless pit right. When they marked them to $100 and flew off the shelves, they made a solo fan into a tiki fan. If I go bigger it will be a tiki over solo.

I have this and I'll say if your use case matches mine then it may be worth it.

We only have about 3-4 fires a year and it's typically during weather when it's just slightly chilly. We didn't want a large pit that sits outside all the time, and wanted the ability to put it away with ease. We usually only hang around the fire for about 2-3 hrs.

We also wanted a fire that was easy to start and once started didn't fill the area with smoke.

This accomplished all of that. If you want a fire large enough for 5 or more ppl, to use in weather where you truly need it to heat everyone up efficiently this isn't the pit for you. If you want a fire for many hours this probably isn't the pit for you. It is specifically for portability, ease of starting a fire with a lower smoke content.

Another thing to know is it burns through wood quickly, that is because it burns wood efficiently and extremely hot and thus it has lower smoke output. If you're wanting to be bear a fire for numerous hours be prepared to have a large amount of wood on Hand.

I like mine because it serves my use case well. My friend doesn't like it because he is a 5-6hr cold day, 5-6 persons around the pit type of person.
