Just had that conversation with someone. Would be nice to find a company that would give you a fresh battery, deep clean and maybe a repaste. Guess the profit just isn't there. I agree, I own two and for this price, it works.
Repaste? .... Why? been using PCs for decades and never done it before. should I have been?
Dell "refurbished" is not refurbished to any degree -- it's outright "used". Maybe they gave it a wipe down, basic power test. Nothing was done to "refurbish" these machines.
I own four of them, and they were very clearly used and abused. For the price, they're acceptable.
How long ago did this change? I bought a 5490 refurb and it was spotless and 100% battery capacity. Quite pleased for what I paid for it. I'm in the market for a refurb desktop now and it would be a shame if their refurbs now suck.

I bought a Dell refurbished monitor that ended up having lines all the way across the entire screen. I fought with them for two weeks about how they're there, sent several photos, sent a video, showed the lines in the monitor menu when the computer was off, etc. etc. In the end I literally threw it on the floor and smashed it because I was so sick of dealing with idiot their support people.
TL;DR - DO NOT BUY FROM DELL
If you buy with a credit card (not debit card, and not prepaid), if Dell doesn't deliver what is promised, you can dispute the charge. Pay for the 1 year warranty (at least); credit cards that extend warranties usually won't cover refurbished computers.

Yeah... when it happened it was years and years ago before I knew about this protection. I had so much documentation over E-Mails when it happened too. Now I just won't even give dell the opportunity to try to screw me over.
