This is a neat design but 2 hours of runtime per 6 AAA batteries is insane. Even if it triples on low mode, it's horrible compared to anything rechargeable

"per 3 AAA batteries each". This is a 2-pack.

Its really a shame more lights don't just use 18650s. I don't even need to have one included. Just make 18650s fit.

Look how many incentivized reviews there are. Of course 5 stars when given a free or discounted product.

Short run time but you can use rechargeables. Metal frame so should hold up better over cheap plastic.
Will give it a try, 4 are just $20. At $2.50 each can't complain.

I don't buy anything that runs on AAA

AA batteries have so much more capacity.

I have a few of these and they all have 10+ hours on them with the original batteries. Luck? The slim design makes it easy to slide them into a pack and the light is bright enough to find what you need in the tent or for sitting at a table at night. They're not for lighting up a larger area or if you need light to see what you're doing under the hood of a car. They also don't blind you, so they're my go to general purpose tent light. Compared to other cheap options, like the pop-up lanterns, I prefer these for their form factor, soft lighting, and robustness.

I got 3 packages of these a few years back. They are great for clipping to a belt loop while walking the dog. Not too bright, but they make you visible to cars and show the ground nearby.

Bravo to the ace engineers at Ozark Trail. They've fixed lanterns with this product, since the main problems with other lanterns are not that they chew through batteries, rechargeables are a pain to recharge (especially where you actually use it), that some are slightly dangerous because of the fuel they burn, or that some are too dim to be of much use or break too easily. The worst problem has always been that lanterns are too darn thick, so the thinness of these is absolutely revolutionary. If I had a nickel for every time I've cursed a dang thick lantern, I'd still be poor, but I'd be well on my way to saving for one of these, the holy grail of lanterns, with thinness that other manufacturers dream of. Helpful comment! Surprisingly, the thinness doesn't affect the weight that much - they are just a bit lighter than the regular ones.
