I just received these penlights, first impressions:
CONS:
- rubber power button easily falls out, definitely not water resistant, will need superglue
- end caps are glued shut and made of cheap plastic, one came cracked from assembly
- cannot disassemble to confirm 700mAh 10840 lithium battery
- some dust behind the COB's plastic lens
- micro-USB is meh for occasional charging
PROS:
- very bright for being small & the magnets are strong
- useful as work lights for car repair or camping
- cheaper than Temu/Ali of similar or worse quality, and easier to return to Walmart
- has a nice weight, so battery life claim might be true, as opposed to Temu/Ali
- package has a 2021 copyright, so battery held charge for ~3 years?

I don't know exactly which part it is that dies in cheap flashlights, whether it's something in the switch or the driver (an IC, or just a resistor?), but I briefly considered assembling a $35 order to throw these in, before I noticed the two reviews stating that.
It's a shame, because they're advertised as aluminum-bodied, and I'd really hate feeding AAAs to anything similar. I'd pay an extra $1 if they actually lasted.
It's not listed in the description but these are rechargeable batteries in these flashlights ! A great way to save money not having to buy batteries constantly.

The reviewers might have been confused since the included 10840 cells are the same size as AAA batteries.

The reviewers that said that the light stopped turning on after a few uses?
Hey look, y'all are welcome to buy all you want, nobody's stopping you. I've just thrown away too many <$3 flashlights that won't turn on after a few uses.

Just use rechargeable AA or AAA batteries that can be recharged 500+ times! Eneloop or Amazon branded rechargeables are great.

If you're after a dependable cheap flashlight and you're near a Harbor Freight store, just get one of these. $1.79, two types of lighting, the main one is bright as hell - has a hanging hook and a magnet. https://www.harborfreight.com/lig...63878.html

MicroUSB, the 3-year ago sounds reasonable
