Thanks for the post. Didn't end up getting the X19 but got the X5 on sale. Chase is doing 10% off HD so nice to get that in the last couple days of that deal. Ended up going for the X5 because it seems more suited for my lighter duty tasks, and it takes less paint to prime for smaller jobs. Hoping this makes staining my deck easier this time around.

I would recommend the X7 Tall boy with the wheels. Anything above it in the consumer line is not worth the money in my opinion. Anything below and your limiting your tip size too much. Might as well go with a Graco 390 if your looking to use 19 tip sizes at above. The tall boy of the X7 makes it easier to move around 5 gallon jugs. For my use I do not see the need of going above a 17 tip size. Whatever unit you get buy some low pressure tips. They are quite awesome for reducing over spray and reduce pressure requirements.

im building my own house and exterior is about 60 squares, plus painting the inside, 3900 sq foot.... do you think x7 would serve me or should I go bigger? Exterior hardiboard needing painted, inside drywall level 4ish

I don't see the 390 on home depot.

Really any of these sprayers (X5, X7 and higher) will do the job. I just like that the Pro Series is built a bit more robust. Replaceable pump, X19 is about 10 pounds heavier than the X7, more HP, higher gpm, higher duty cycle. Honestly, the X5 or 7 would have probably been fine, but the boss was okay with me getting the nicer unit.

The 390 is a professional model at a much higher price point. Home Depot sells the consumer grade models with the exception of the pro210ES. You can see the 390 model here: https://www.graco.com/us/en/contr...5t804.html
I recommend the Graco X7. For $400 its a great deal, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Graco.../100634350

You have to clean the machine after every use and keep it stored with pump armor otherwise you will burn the unit out quickly. Many people find this out the hard way. Great machine that has produced professional results. Unit has easily paid for itself.

Research tip sizes so you understand my explanation. I think you will end up using a 515 tip or something similar for most your walls. Smaller fan tip for trim. Typically the larger orifice you go the faster you have to move the gun. For non pros I think its better to go a bit slower with a smaller orifice so you have more control. Otherwise you are going to put too much paint on the wall at a time which will cause runs.

I think the X7 is the sweet spot. With the X19 you most likely will not use anything larger than a 17 orifice tip. The replaceable pump is nice. Although if your a home owner and want to do some side projects at times I don't see the need for that feature. I know several people that have used X7s for years, taken care of them, and the pump still runs fine. I think a pump assembly cost around $400, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Graco...313383297. Might as well buy another X7 at that point then deal with the hassle. Best case scenario you need this part: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Graco.../206733721 which is $100.

Personally, I've bought two refurbished machines (X5 - $289 , ProX17 - $415) from ebay seller: americanairless
they looked quite new.

X5 is very versatile. I've painted a church exterior with it, then right after I got done with that I painted our kitchen cabinets. Just be aware you will need a different guard for fine flow tips.
