All the games are pretty standalone.
1,2 and NV make a proper trilogy and trace the evolution of the NCR.
1, 2, Tactics, 3, 4 sort of follows the evolution of the BoS.

I just started Fallout 3 after I watched the show. My old save file was in the cloud for xbox so I was able to return to the game with all my stuff and just bought the dlc all on sale. 60 FPS on Xbox series consoles is nice.

This might hurt you to know, but it didn't even care that it was a Mac.
Cloud gaming works on everything.
-at least from forums is to run it as Tales of Two Wastelands with FNV merged. Even with limited mods the ToTW version holds up, even with some stutter. You can plead all of F3 and not touch the Mojave. There's a mod on Nexus that allows you to be counter intuitive and start FNV first, or only. Works on any store front-stem, epic, GOG: heard you can even mix and match.
