Be aware that these are the base M1 models with binned 7-core GPUs, only 2 ports and no touchID on the keyboard. I'd personally recommend spending the extra &100 on the 8-core GPU model with 4 ports and touchID (as well as Ethernet on the power cable).
Amazing deal for an incredible screen, dead silent operation, and fast speeds all around for non-gamers (and even some games are starting to appear for MacOS!!).

The only question: If it's worth another $50 to get the (admittedly, orange only) model with touchID (easier logins and authentications), 1/8th more GPU grunt, 2 more USBC ports, and an ethernet port in the power supply (which is surprisingly convenient!)

I'd say it IS worth another $50 for most people: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/imac...22Deals%22

(Just click on M1 8 Core and then the orange color to see the $850 price)

The best 'deal' is probably open box M1 8 GPU-core (touchID) for $800, excellent condition. That would be worth getting…
Pulled the trigger and bought this iMac. Our current iMac is a 2011. Thanks.

Let me know if you see a difference. I have mid 2011 iMac and saw no difference at all. I returned it. I upgraded my mid 2011 with SSD drive and max 20gb ram. Maybe that was the difference.
The 2011 is slow to start and lags when moving between programs.. We don't do any video editing and not much beyond visiting web sites and occasionally print items such as Turbo Tax.

As someone that moved from a 2012 Mac to an M1 MacBook Air I saw a massive difference in speed. Of course it won't make your internet connection faster.

8GB Memory - 256GB SSD

Same specs my PC had in 2014. Enjoy your new Mac.
The 8GB is works pretty good on these machines for basic tasks. I have LG gram 32GB and 1TB, it heats up real quick and is very annoying to use.

I'm making myself to get used to Mac though I hate Mac OS just because how cool these M series run and how long the battery lasts.

Hell of a deal for the 5k retina display alone. M1 is still a fabulous processor, to boot. Don't be turned off by 8GB RAM - these M-generation setups are extremely efficient with RAM management. I do intensive 4K video editing on an M1 MBA with 8GB and barely notice any hiccups - for 90% of use cases, this will be a perfect home desktop setup.

The difference in resolution and crispness of a mid-2011 iMac and a 24" Retina display is massive. That alone would be a reason to upgrade - much, much easier on your eyes. Not to mention the 24" would ensure many more future Mac OS upgrades (Macs with intel processors will not be upgradable for much longer).
