I have two cases of these for four cats. Two of them would starve before eating these. The other two cats will lick the gravy clean and leave the meat.

I get the pate, this "gravy" stuff is shrinkflation, the cans contain considerably less actual cat food. The cat prefers the pate globs anyway

I've noticed that too. I have a pack of both, pate and shreds/gravy and it seems like the pate is better deal. Personally if I was a cat, I think I'd prefer the gravy cans over pate.
I typically add a few pieces of dried food to help bulk it up a bit. My cat scarfs it down either way.

Looking at the packages, the gravy is 82% moisture and the pate is 78%. 4% more moisture, that's .22 ounces more "moisture" (.22 ounces less food) per can.

Good analysis man, that's classic shrinkflation. I'll put it on my shelf with the 10 oz skinny cereal box that looks normal from the front, the 12 oz bacon pack with the more feathered out bacon, and those herbal tea boxes that are the same size until you open them and find them half full. These companies really like to sucker their consumers. Thanks and repped!
