Yes, Benchmade prices have gotten stupid. However, it's a good opportunity to get a great knife at a fair price. For the SD bargain hunters who are happy with DHgate junk (still works, but not a quality product) - this isn't for you. If you want a Benchmade without feeling like you've been robbed, this is for you.
I remember thinking the same, but time will tell. Chinese knock offs aren't made of the same quality metals for the blades, body or scales. I bought some benchmade gold class knock offs, some zero tolerance knock offs before. Won't keep an edge. Id put the blade quality up there with the husky brand at home depot.
Yes real Benchmades are expensive, but I've had some for 15+ years that are still working flawlessly today.
As for losing them, that's not a problem I have, it's always attached to my pocket if not being used throughout the day so I don't lose them.

Yea nice knives but super expensive. And the knock-offs from DHgate are dang near 90% of the way there for a fraction of the cost. Makes it harder and harder to justify as Benchmade keeps raising their prices. I've started selling off my genuine Benchmade knives. The thought of loosing a $150-280 knife just isn't acceptable to me anymore.
Same! Only have a 20CV bugout left. Nothing else even compares to competition in terms of value
So out of the knives which one is the most worth it?
Can't go wrong with a Griptilian or a 940 Osborne. Some will say the Bugout, too- but I'd rather the 1st two I mentioned (personal preference- I just feel like the 940 is a prettier/more comfortable knife than the Bugout, and the Griptilian is a workhorse.)

The axis one? If so it definitely looks pretty with the green handle lol
Bugout is the knife I got from here a year ago, I think it feels cheap but that's mainly because it's so light, it has the axis lock. I wanted the Osborne but it was gone

Griptillian is a workhorse beater knife. Good knife for someone who does a lot of cutting in like a construction setting.
Osborn 940 is an EDC knife and considered one of Benchmades flagship knives.
Bugout is a light weight knife that almost feels cheap. But good for an EDC due to its light weight. Mine has carbon fiber sscales. I think of this as something you carry around in like an office environment etc.
I own all 3 and of the 3 Id pick the Osborne all day. You milage may very.

Sold off my Benchmade 940-2 after the first time I used their warranty. It took 5 weeks for them to replace the omega springs that will inevitably fail with enough use. Yes, it's a lifetime warranty but it's still a hassle. Like others have commented, the clones are like 10% the price for 90% of the quality.
My EDC is a Kizer Original, don't need to worry about the springs snapping.
I appreciate OP posting the deal. The problem with expensive knives is I find I don't use them as much because I don't want to damage them - and end up using the moras - as I don't need to worry about abusing them.

Yes, let's keep buying cheap knockoffs made by child labor or slave labor and not support a product made in the US. I'm sure you're the first one complaining though when your job gets outsourced.

5 weeks... That's nothing. Some other companies, with lifetime service warranties, can take 3 months before you get it back. If you get a lifetime warranty, you kinda can't complain considering you may very well be out on your ass after 1 year with a lot of competitors. At least you will get your knife back eventually.
You can't have your cake and eat it too in the warranty world...
My Benchmade Mini Griptilian is my favorite go to knife. Unfortunately it's out of production now. Worth every cent I paid. Quality construction and the CPM 20CV blade holds a sharp edge.
