Good luck with those HDMI issues that Onkyo refuses to address.

HDCP has been broken by design since it was first forced onto people. It is still designed to be poorly implemented and not just in receivers, but in TVs, Projectors, and sources.

This is an ok deal if you didn't get in on the denon refurb a month or so ago. I replaced an onkyo 373 due to it sometimes needing to be restarted if we used AirPods with our Apple TV and then switched back to using the speakers.

Anyone know if this works with PS5? My older Yahama RX-375V doesn't output surround sound with a PS5 so I stopped buying 4K Blu-rays.

I have the onkyo system for about 2 years now... it does have the switching issue but its a nice clean basic surround sound. streaming using a mini pc connected to my tv theres no delay in sounds performance so its a solid buy.

Lucky you. I purchased a Denon refurb with high hopes which I had to return because it had intermittent issues where the sound doesn't work. The sound sometimes come out and sometimes not at all. The Denon tech support was really nice though. They patiently spent time with me over the phone to get it right, however it still didn't work and I had to refund it.

It's not an HDCP issue.

My friend picked up a used one they had for ~$130 shipped. Said it was grade "g" without the remote but what a steal I think. Can't even get a stereo receiver without HDMI or optical or subwoofer preout for that cheap

I have this receiver parked in my garage driving two Klipsch RP-160ms and a 10" sub.

IT"S OKAY! For under $200, you're not going to get much better.

What does 1080 to 4K upscaling mean in this receiver? I have a 4K Sony Bravia QLED tv. Doesn't the tv handle all video processing? First timer doing a 5.1.2 system going from soundbar. Would appreciate some insight into this… Thanks!

The receiver can try to upscale if you have a very cheap TV with weak specs. Your Sony probably has better upscale tech to do the job. If you have a 1080 source, I'd plug it into the TV and use ARC to send the audio to the receiver.

Is this a good option to set up a 5.1 system on my PC? I just need the audio features.
