They're closing out models from several years ago. The quality on these is really really good. I own two streamliners from this era and they're fantastic guitars. I'm tempted by this one too, since it has a smaller body than my other Streamliners.

How can they sell these so cheap? Cheaper than a Squier Affinity even. Not really my style, but looks cool and I'm tempted.

I wish they had a semihollow model without bigsby on sale. I can barely play (started learning at nearly 40) and I'm a bit worried that bigsby adds unnecessary complexity to keep it tuned. I would not be able to use bigsby in the foreseeable future.

Yes, this is a good one. But I like the Jr more for a smaller size.

I haven't tried it yet but there are 100+ comments confirming this stringing method works for keeping Gretsch's (and any guitar) in tune https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Fg5dB0ftqw

Well heck this is now becoming more like stocks and ETFs. Since no one can predict the market Dollar cost average.

The Bloody Bigsby Ïnstalled and part is about 150. So the rest of the guitar is being sold for 1 Benji. If you are a slick dealer heck who doesn't even play.

I have ranted and raved against/for Gretsch and looky looky I just bought one

Thanks OP. Please rep him/her

I picked up the sterling green version a while back at $279

It's a truly beautiful guitar and sounds great. I read a lot about a bigsby throwing the guitar out of tune but we haven't had that issue at all.

At this price these are awesome buys just to hang on the wall for decor. Not sure what other art you could get for this price with the same impact.

For those with tuning issues:

1 - replace the Bigsby spring
2 - put on $60 locking tuners
3 - oil/lube the nut

I've had mine for a few months now, and it'll stay in tune even if I dive bomb with the Bigsby

How hard is it to tune if you know nothing about guitars.

It's no more complicated to adjust the tuning on this guitar than any other, but you may be adjusting it pretty often especially while you break it in.

If you're brand new you may want to pass on this in favor of a hardtail model, they do come up for sale pretty often. The Bigsby is great for eye candy but unless you really want to actually use it, I don't think it's worth the added cost, weight and complication.

Spend the money you save on a nice clip-on tuner and a few sets of strings.

I think with the price being this low, the Bigsby is essentially free. As in, $229 is the lowest you're gonna see the hard tails go and that's a stretch.

By comparison then, the Bigsby is not essentially free - it's a $30 premium over the hardtail.

I'm not recommending against it because I think it's a bad value, but rather because I think it's an unnecessary complication for a brand new player.
