"Oversized" kind of implies you are not average, right? Seems his statement would not apply to you as average.

it depends on the size of your wrist. 36mm looks like a baby watch on my 8inch wrists and looks huge on 6 inch wrists.

This is a good beginner watch with the 7S26 caliber movement. I would personally spend 50-100 more and get a deal on one of Seikos NH36 movements. You can get a Seiko SRPE under $180 bucks.

Kinda' child size at 37mm, but nice watch for the smaller wrist.
My very fashion forward colleague says 36mm is ideal for men today.

No, this someone is just FAT, and a 37mm watch looks absolutely ridiculous on me!

Idk I think there is such thing as too small and too large but it's wrist size dependent

JJ redick an ex nba player said on a podcast 42mm or so is already almost too big for him. 36-42mm is great for most guys

I'll also add, Seiko watch modding is an addiction, beware. There is a big community of people modding Seiko watches into heirloom masterpieces. You don't have to spend 5k on a Grand Seiko to get Rolex quality out of the brand.

I've been watching the silver face one for a while. I got last week's dark blue face. And yes it is small. It really is a bracelet size..nailed it on the bracelet size. Also add if you return they will deduct shipping cost from your refund.

Not sure why one would think an ex nba player is any kind of authority on watch sizes, but whatever. I happen to agree that 36mm - 40mm is an appropriate men's size. Why? Because a men's watch in the 1950s and 1960s was around 34mm-36mm. Wristwatches have constantly been evolving to ever smaller sizes since some 19th century watchmaker brazed a pair of lugs on a pocket watch so you could strap it to your wrist and not have the inconvenience of fishing a timepiece out of your pocket just to tell the time.

Mechanical watchmaking in the 50s and 60s had progressed to the point where a men's watch didn't need to be any bigger than 34-36mm. Watchmaking technology, as one might surmise, has NOT regressed in the intervening 70 odd years. So there's absolutely no reason a men's watch has to be larger today that it was back then.

The only reason mens watches are larger today is strictly fashion. In no objective sense is a 37mm watch "undersized" on a larger-than-average men's wrist. People have just been conditioned to think it is.
