Tempted to buy this. But as others have said, this will likely be the price for all colors once the next gen iPads are released. Also, I suspect the 256GB will be $200 off as well.

Wow, fabulous deal. I almost did it with a trade in but the 64gb is such a limiting factor. The 256gb has to be also getting some deep discounts (maybe not as good as this) with the new air iPads being released in early May. Look for deals on the 256 in 2 weeks with the new iPad model announcements.

I echo the sentiment about 64gb of storage. It's just too limiting. It's such a shame that such a powerhouse of hardware is limited by Apple's stinge. I really want to pull the trigger but can't do it. I've spent too much time going managing storage on my iPads.

Can someone please explain to me how 64GB is so limiting? I bought this almost a year ago or so and I honestly cannot find how I am going to fill up the remaining 35GB on my 64GB ipad. I even have two games and one of them is huge (Civilization 6) and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. I bought these to play on the plane on a trip to India. Anyway, what is your use case for needing 256GB? I think I use my iPad M1 like 90% of other people...just your basic apps...Internet, Email, eBay, and then all the various streaming services. The only thing I can think of is if you want to take a whole Netflix or Amazon Prime season with you to watch on the plane or cruise where internet may not be available. Those can take up to 16GB per season I believe. Anyway, I just don't get it. I guess if you are needing to do real work..photo editing...video editing then sure...but honestly I feel for a whole bunch of everyday users...64GB is plenty. And M1 is blazingly fast. If you don't like Pink...so be it...but otherwise, IMHO 64GB is plenty...and the newer iPads are not going to be game changers by any means. I wish I didn't already have one...this is would in instant purchase for me.

I would only vouch for the 64GB model to people who are positive they won't need the storage, but it can disappear fast these days. iPadOS takes up 10+GB alone. Another big offender would be an iCloud Photos album with years of photos/videos in it (mine is 20GB.) Some popular apps will eat up gigabytes in cache.

But, if you're the type of user who just wants a side device primarily for common internet apps, and don't often take up much space with apps/photos/music/games on their other mobile devices, then sure.

I agree 256GB is probably far too much for most people. They did this on purpose -- there's no 128GB option because they want you to notice the 128GB iPad Pro that only costs $50 more than a 256GB iPad Air, and what's another $50 when you're already spending hundreds?

Excellent device and once you get a case the color doesn't matter. 64gb no issue for me.

In for one. Thanks OP.

Trade in price is $40 for my iPad 6th, not worth it. Will trade it with Apple for $80
You'll get $40 more trade in value w/ Apple and pay $200 for your new iPad Air with your Apple Gift Card though?

You mentioned a whole tv show season can take 16gb.

I'm curious if you downloaded movies for your India trip. How many movies did you download? Or how much does a 2hr movie take, 1gb?

That's always the biggest complaint I've heard-- that 64GB isn't enough to travel with movie downloads. Thanks.

I didn't say I need 256. 128 would be perfect but that's not an option, which is by design. I like to play PUBG and that takes up a ton of storage. Honestly, if I was just using it for browsing, email, streaming, downloading media, etc. then I would opt for a Samsung tablet with expandable storage. I have a 256 iPad mini and I don't get close to filling it. I also have an old iPad Pro with 64 and it's always full.

A 2 hour movie in 1080p might be like 3 or 4 GB, if you really want to compress it down you can get well under that. But don't forget these have a USB-C port and you can just stick all this kind of crap on a flash drive.

I have the same iPad storage sizes. TBH I bought the 12.9 1st generation iPad Pro (3rd gen overall) and never liked the size. I kinda want an 11 inch iPad but don't want 64GBs again due to the OS and system cache taking over half the free space at times. I don't need the storage for personal use but I had to delete apps just to update my device. Shame on Apple for causing this issue. Their device should have enough free space to function properly.

I think the problem many people face is that it's most convenient to download a season of a TV show from Netflix or Prime etc. for offline viewing. Those only allow storage within the app, which means internal storage. Yes, one can store much more to en external flash drive or HD, but many folks don't have tons of movies or shows in offline format. And even if they do, it might probably be something they've already seen, and wish to catch the latest season of some show on steaming apps.

Other than the 60hz refresh rate this is on par with iPad pro
iPad Air uses Touch ID to unlock a pro uses Face ID. That was a limiting factor for me. The touch works fine, but Face ID is more convenient
