Honest uses the more stable but less effective version of vitamin C (MAP). Second, I contacted Honest customer support to get the concentration of Vitamin C to understand the effectiveness based on the concentration but they are not willing to disclose it due to the proprietary nature / trade secrets. Most brands disclose this and transparency should be key to consumers. Given the uncertainty about effectiveness, I will not purchase this again and look for ones that have better disclosure and effectiveness
Based on internet research on Vitamin C: The effective concentration of vitamin C for face is between 8% and 20%. Serums with vitamin C concentrations below 8% are ineffective, while above 20%, their effectiveness tapers off.
I'd suggest the Naturium vitamin c complex at $20 over this one.
