FYI - I went through the membership signup process a couple of times and ended up with going into limbo both times - costco system hung up. Signed up for a costco account and entered the process and it worked!

You CAN use just a Gift Card to gain entry and buy as much as you want and pay the difference with a Credit Card or Cash. And you can use other services, like Pharmacy etc without a card. We get another member to buy a few gift cards for us, since we only go twice a year or so. Sometimes they'll push you to buy a membership, or slip you some side-eye, but it works just fine when you decline the arm twisting.
No one with a membership is doing that.
They don't take Discover only Visa and Debit Card with Pin.
Unless it says "Members Only" on the item, you can purchase items online for a small upcharge without a membership. Thats what we did for awhile before having a membership started to make sense for us.

I don't believe every purchase is included in that $3000 either. Gasoline is not included for example
You can return it no problem. Idk why the other person said it's the manager's discretion. I've done it quite a few times, no problem, no manager involvement.

It won't matter. They need the member there that purchased it with an account in good standing. A manager would need to over ride this.
