Has there ever been an explanation why S&S items have free shipping? Not complaining, just interesting (since it probably costs more to ship this than you're actually paying for the product itself).

I think it has changed so that if you don't have any active subscriptions you'd need a $35 order (that could include non-subscription items) to get free shipping.
