Outside of some one off deal, it's pretty unlikely. FromSoft games generally don't go below $29.99. I've actually been watching the price for this and this is the cheapest Ive seen since the one off deal I got from secondipidity ($30) a few weeks after release.

I don't understand why you would want or buy digital games this size.I would never buy a digital system or games that take up a lot of space. The systems don't come with enough space and memory is still to expensive and it didn't make sense.
Memory was very cheap like a year ago, I added a 1TB SSD for $55. And it being on disc doesn't save space as the whole thing gets copied on to the SSD. Really just depends if you have fast internet or a data cap, I can install faster downloading from the internet than disc.

That all said I still like discs.

That game sharing is what we're after with digital. ☺️

Their reasoning is right in their reply. They game share with someone, so for them the cost is split between them and the other person.

As a relatively new PlayStation 5 owner I'm finding out very quickly that the patch file size issue is getting worse over time. I just picked up Forspoken, Gotham Knights and Prodeus a few days ago from the GameStop B2G1F on pre-owned sale and after trying to load those first two I'm tempted to just play indie games on the system since the patch sizes are so bloated. Just those two games alone had 87 GB and 43 GB patch file sizes respectively.

It's kinda ridiculous when the patch size is almost as large as the installed file size, especially when you have a data cap on your internet connection. Sure. It's 1.2 TB and being the only one who uses it I should still be good for the rest of the month but it's beyond frustrating when the whole point of buying a physical copy is to cut down on the amount of time spent staring at a download bar.
Oftentimes an update makes enough changes to the game files that it requires a full reinstall which is why a "patch" ends up being as big or bigger than the game itself. It isn't just an "update", it's the entire game. These days the main reason to buy a physical game is either because you can get it cheaper than the digital version, or, more importantly, that you can resell it when you're done. Even when a game is actually on the disc, the longer it's been out (and often even day one) the more likely it's just going to pull an updated file and ignore what's on the disc.

Normally I'd say not likely anytime soon, but the gaming industry is hurting nowadays so it depends on how desperate things get. $20 is def possible by Black Friday.

The way things are going there won't be any physical games left by then. They are liquidating pretty much all their physical games right now.

Yet just a couple of gens ago the largest patch I ever had was maybe one gigabyte. If they would price the games for peanuts on the console storefronts then I'd probably buy more digital copies but 90-95% of the time the physical version is much cheaper.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's an easy way to look for the current patch file sizes of games so I know which ones to avoid since I refuse to use up 5-10% of my monthly data on ONE title because they can't be bothered to optimize the patch size to re-write only what they need to.

Unfortunately it ultimately comes down to consumers being willing to put up with this just like every other thing the gaming industry has implemented that's nonsense (pay to play multiplayer across all consoles, for example).

I want to try this but a bit weary. What can anyone compare this to? Titan fall? Long time ago I bought a game called Soma for like $5 like in 2018. One of the better games I've ever played for what it was. Should I say what the hell and just get it?

Might be sold out online, but local stores still had multiple in stock on sale. Site listed not available for pick up, but I was still able to snag a copy for ps5 at the same place that said pickup wasn't available. YMMV, but might still be worth checking around locally.

My store has plenty copies, but they will not price match their own prices (sold and shipped by Walmart) and it says OOS for store pickup .
