I've come to realize "Tech" is just shorthand for 100% polyester.

Bought these recently to try on and ended up returning. Under armour quality nowadays feels cheap and thin compared to 10 years ago.

Lol no.. Pretty sure it's more about the level of thin-ness.

And this one is super thin. Not necessarily an indicator of quality. It's just something you'd wanna wear in 80F+ temps.

The "Tech" series of shirts are super thin. The "Velocity" series is much nicer, IMO. Still a synthetic blend, but thicker and less prone to the collars getting misshapen with wear.
