I have a Samsung A15 and an iPhone SE3 from Total and there are NO splash screens, another A15 from Tracfone that DOES have a splash screen, a A14 from Cricket that DOES have the splash and a Pixel 6a from Metro with NO splash. All unlocked now with most given to family and friends out of the US.

Reps given. I had a 4 year old moto G Power 2020 and Moto G Stylus 2022 that Xfinity kept giving me the run around about, (32 emails back and forth with their "exec team") never got either unlocked. They were just a glorified wifi phone now. Went to the website paid $4 with tax, and got one unlocked (second is still pending) worked perfect!

I got mine from Xfinity it's been pretty good. I don't buy flagship phones and typically go on the cheaper end. This seems quite a bit better than a cheaper phone and has some cool moto features as well. Only issue I've had is recently (bought in Oct 2023) is the screen protector (built in not field-replaceable). Is showing wear around the hinge. I contacted Moto and they said they would replace under warranty and have sent me the address to drop it off. As of right now I haven't done it and it looks like it's the screen protector and not the screen itself but I don't know for sure until it gets replaced to see if there is anything else wrong.

Also it's only 128gb built-in and doesn't look like you can expand the memory. For a 200 phone it's very good and I like the flip.

iPhones also do the same thing as Google where carriers can't flash their own firmware. More correctly, Google followed Apple's suit and don't create models and firmware for specific carriers. AFAIK, the Pixel and iPhone carrier locks and unlocks are done directly by Google and Apple on the instruction of the carrier. Samsungs will carry a Tracfone splash screen if they have a -DL model number.

Anyone else remember when folks paid over $200 for an iPod with less than 128gb of HD space?

Heck years ago I bought the iPhone just for gaming on Boost with zero expectation to use it as a phone.

So not a crap deal is all I'm saying. Changed consumer expectations.
