I did the same. The website says to go to VZ store, and make the cash payment. I asked for the credit card payment, and they said there is no credit card option, but only cash payment option. So I made the payment.

I picked up the phone yesterday, but activated this morning. Made calls and sent a couple of text messages, then I paid off at around noon. I'm going to cancel the service tomorrow.

Seems like a lot of ymmv here. I would like to have bought one of these, paid it off, and brought to Google Fi.

So I can get rid of this terrible OnePlus 10T. Man, this phone has been such an unreliable piece of crap.

When you say picked up, was that from a local store? I thought this was shipped only. If that is the case, I'll head out now.

Good question, yeah it's a known issue with the Gen 1 Snapdragon in this series. The S22+ is better than the S22 but the whole set has noticeably worse battery than the 21 or 23/24 series unfortunately.

The catch is that the S22 generation has lemon chipsets. And they have the same cameras from the S21. So there's no selling point for them. The Snapdragon in these burns through the battery. The S22 gen didn't sell well, it's not the first time they discounted them. So it's awkward. If you can an S21 you're better off with that, or if you can pay an extra 200, you should just get an S23 or something else.

1) port the number out to a free service. Verizon will bill you for the phone
2) cancel service and Verizon will bill you

Looking to do this deal, but don't want to end up with a non working phone or huge bill.

Was about to order s23+, completed credit check and was about to order. Looks like we need to pick a unlimited data plan as well? If I cancel after making calls and text, would I be prorate charged for the wireless plan? Any suggestions of which plan to pick?

I got the s23+, it did not require me to pick an unlimited data plan. No idea on your other questions, though, sorry.

Edited to add: In case it matters...I upgraded an existing line, did not attempt the buy and cancel route most folks are trying to do.

Ordered on 4/18, received 4/20 today, activated it, sent text and make one call, request transfer code online once logged in to Verizon site, request paper billing, activated service on Tello, request porting. All done within 30 minutes. Now waiting for that bill.

Why did u chose to transfer number vs disconnect? I've received phone today and looking to disconnect after paying off, making calls+text etc.

Any issue with disconnect?
