Have dark hardwood floors and 3 dogs. I have 2 of the v12 slim detects since last black Friday.
These are super light and the only Dyson without a trigger mechanism so there is no trigger fatigue since the on / off control is a button. That is really nice.
The green laser is an amazing feature that reveals the smallest grain of pollen on your floor among everything else.
Eco mode is not great but has the longest run time with the hardwood cleaner. Auto mode (medium) is about 36 minutes. Boost mode is only about 8.5 minutes of run time. Auto mode is primarily what you will use on hard floors. While in Auto, it also will detect dirty areas and toggle to Boost mode for a few seconds.
Recharging takes over an hour.
Emptying is easy and long hair doesn't get stuck in the cleaning mechanism at all.
To clean my floors faster, I sometimes use one in each hand and double the cleaning path.
If your use case is hard floors, this is what you want. If you want to do carpets too, I'd go with the V15 detect.
Ordering directly from Dyson gets you a HEPA version. Check the reee bate sites. The price the was same but got a 20% back at the time from Dyson site and 15% from QVC for 7 accessories….though the Fluffy Optic is what you will use most.

Don't these all have HEPA filters that filter the output air? Or is that not the case..?

Bought 2 of these back then and both ended up with the same problem after 8 months of heavy use. The push button mail function, motor stops after starting. Dyson a pain to deal with, you are lucky if they even reply back to you.
Both got exchanged under warranty but only remains the original warranty so if it happens again most likely will be out of warranty.
This should be a recall. Way too expensive to need to buy them every 2 years.
Other than that I'm loving the vacuum.
It shows out of stock but you can sign up for an in stock notification on the home Depot site. I was able to snag one last night this way. Just in time because my 6 year old V8 is on it's last leg
I received mine yesterday and tried it out... holy crap, this thing is well worth $400.
The laser thingy for hardwood floors is insane. My floors look perfectly clean but with that activated, GOOD LORD I didn't realize how much dust is everywhere. Works better on carpet too. canister might be small but the design is awesome, love how it "sweeps" clean the filter compartment (or whatever you call the silver thing in the center). Much lighter than I expected too.
I didn't think it would be that much better than the V6 but wow, huge improvement.

I've had 2 V6s for the last 4 years on the way out. Glad I picked this up.

Same. Our tired V8 is 10 years old. I keep wanting to put it out to pasture but hard to justify dropping $400 lol.

extend the life by replacing the battery. did this a year ago and the new battery runs twice as long as the old one even when new

I installed a Milwaukee battery adapter. Still running to this day but ya, it's old.
