I tried their tomato sauce version which is decent. Very similar to costco's sardines

Sprats as an ingredient. Any budget brands that still use true sardines in their canned products?

These were also $8.80 for a dozen earlier this month.

Thanks for the info

From Wikipedia

"Sprats are sometimes passed off as other fish; products sold as having been prepared from anchovies (since the 19th century) and others sold as sardines sometimes are prepared from sprats, as the authentic ones once were less accessible."

These are Sprats which are close to sardines, but not

The brand Costco sells: "Season brand" are listed as Sardines on the ingredients.

Is there much difference between a sprat and a sardine? I don't know,,, but if you're buying something labeled sardines, it should actually contain sardines

I get a craving for these things every once in awhile. Just add lemon juice. Sometimes I add hot sauce or jalapeno sauce.

They are really thick sardines not the small ones like king Oscar, so to me they're not as good but they're adequate. I used to eat them before they rebranded to honeybee when they sold assuming they the same

I bit. I'm on the hook for two. From what I can find, sprats are just a nutritious, just smaller than sardines.
