BTW items made specifically for Tumi's outlet don't have the leather area for initials. That's how you can tell if it's "real" Tumi or just branded Tumi. If you buy a product that has the leather area you can take it to any Tumi retail store to have your initials stamped on it. It doesn't matter where you bought it or how much you paid. Also the leather is just glued on. You can get blanks at the Tumi store to if you ever hand it down or sell it.
I got one. I think it has a design flaw in that it can't sit upright. The tilting forward is freaking annoying especially with laptop in it and the shit falls to the floor when placed on a chair or table. Mine was a gift as I would never pay big dolla for somethang like this.
Your words in bold suggest B&R are not used worldwide. Everything I've heard has suggested Tumi is not what it used to be. I'm sure it's a nice product though. Not trying to put it down. How do I bold that last part, oh well.
Another + for B & R. I have two of their bags and one Tumi bag. Quality is similar in both (although b&R is slightly more subdued in style). If I'm traveling within the US for work - I'll take Tumi. If I'm international - I'll take B&R.
Tumi has more style, but B&R is definitely the better buy.

That is a made for outlet version and notably lower quality. You can tell because it lacks the monogram plate. The made for outlet luggage models typically have cheaper wheels, zippers, liners, etc.
A $600+ bag on sale for $400+ that is too heavy to carry
Does it have a pass through at the back so you can put it on top of a rolling luggage securely.
