Is this good for next four years of college? Or should I look for a deal on the XPS?
Two different types of laptops - XPS weighs less / thinner but costs more. It depends totally on whether you want a lightweight ultrabook or are good with a regular size.

Thanks. I know someone who is ready for college this fall and I am helping find a laptop deal for them along with some research on which laptop to get. College requirement is quite clear - windows OS, i7, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD.
I have narrowed it down to Dell based on various forums I have read so far and further narrowed it down to either XPS or Inspiron. Latitude seems to be primarily for business audience.
Inspiron is clearly the cheapest but just worried about the long-term performance because it has to survive four years of college so trying to decide between Inspiron and XPS.
