I went ahead and bought one, but I do have a couple of questions if anyone knows something.

Does the "USB C female port" support display out? I have a kvm monitor that can do 65w charging and display through USB C. If I could hook it up to my laptop charge it and have display via its USB 4 port then also make use of the Ethernet port on this adapter I would be happy.

Last question; does this have basic functionality with the Nintendo Switch?

The female USB-C port on the hub is probably only power in (the one labeled PD), it only will feed power into the hub and upstream to the host computer. I have never seen a hub where the PD USB-C port does any sort of data.

I won't recommend plugging in any USB-C docks into the Nintendo Switch that doesn't say it supports it. Or even the dock says it works with the switch there is still risk of damaging the switch, see the nyko switch dock bricking debacle. Anyway the issue with the bricking was the power input (PD) feeding into the dock the passing into the switch at a higher voltage then it was ready for. So if you plugged in the USB-C hub without feeding power into it probably isn't going to damage the switch, but also the switch might not give enough power to the hub either to use it. (also the HDMI would never work without power, as the switch requires external power for this functionality)

Anyway by "basic functionality with the Nintendo Switch" if you mean you just want to plug in a USB-A device into your switch on the go, I would recommend a USB-C to USB-A adapter instead.

Nice, cheap replacement for the one I got for my Galaxy Book Pro 360 back in Aug 2021 (when I needed something quickly right before an upcoming trip. This is the one I currently have https://a.co/d/3uwWhsh. Paid around the same $14, but that was after gift cards, but never bothered to return. It'll be nice to have an extra USB port and 4K60Hz for the rare TV hookup. Thanks OP!

I was pretty sure the "nyko dock debacle" was from Qualcomm quick charge not power delivery. The switch should take power delivery at 15v 2.6 amps.

I am tempted but the USB-C docking cable is quite short and does not appear to be detachable (i.e. you can't replace it with a longer one)

Odd, looks like 8 in 1 now shows different layout on Amazon? Appears to have 3.5mm audio instead of right USB-A port.

I would much prefer this to another useless USB port like in the picture. Worth paying $1 more to get a headphone jack.

ORICO is a known brand for making HD enclosures. I would rather pay $1 extra over some no-name brand that could burn down your expensive Macbook.
