3D The Sovol has the new SV08 on sale for $499, it's a new 3D printer based on the open source Voron V2.4 350 design.

Edit: Unfortunately the Slickdeals system somehow breaks the deal link, for now if you can't open the link just go to sovol3d.com and look for the SV08.

It offers a 350x350x345mm (13.78x13.78x13.58") build volume and comes mostly pre-assembled, requiring only about an hour of assembly time by the user. In comparison, building a Voron 2.4 from scratch typically takes 20 hours or more to assemble, depending on experience.

The SV08 utilizes a "flying gantry" design where the X and Y axes move up and down, rather than the print bed moving on the Z axis. This provides an advantage for large, heavy prints as they do not exert force on the Z axis. All four Z axes are driven independently, allowing for automatic quad gantry leveling to ensure the printer remains square and level.

Of course as it's Voron based the SV08 runs the Klipper firmware. Print acceleration is specified at 40,000mm/s² with a maximum print speed of 700 mm/s. Linear rails are used on all axes. The extruder uses a planetary gearbox and appears to use an all-metal hotend, making it suitable for a wide range of typical filament materials like PLA, PETG, TPU. For ABS you probably want to add side panels first, these do not come with the SV08.

Other features include a built-in camera for remote print monitoring and creating timelapse videos via the web interface, as well as automatic bed leveling and a automatic Z offset calibration.

It's also much cheaper than typical Voron 2.4 kits, which often cost more than $1000, even without printed parts.

Not sure what happened but the link in the op circles me back to the SD homepage when I click it from within the Android app.

I went direct and here's that link in case something got messy.

From what I have seen, this printer is half backed, and Sovol loves to throw around the Voron name without actually making this printer a Voron clone in any meaningful way.

My gripe with these is that they're not enclosed... I wish they had spent the extra $30 in plexi glass.

I think that's an issue with the Slickdeals affiliate link system, they automatically place their affiliate link but that seems to be broken for the deal. I get forwarded to a ShareASale page and then it redirects back to the Slickdeals frontpage

A youtube preview I saw on this says the enclosure panels will come out later, for $100-$150.

You can order the panels with it now. Its $150 extra. I'm going to wait and see if you can get them cheaper later though.

It is indeed based on the Voron. You can see it in the design. The Voron is not really mass-production friendly though, so they changed things to help that. It's a flying gantry design with the same belt routing, etc. It's NOT a Voron 2.4, but it's absolutely based on it. Shouldn't be too hard to modify things to work. My guess this is so popular that the ali stuff will flow soon enough.

Loving all those core xy options coming out. Can't wait for them to get cheap to justify ditching my bed slinger.

I have the Creality ender 6 corexy. It was my first 3D printer and I generally like it but I wish I had a little bit more build volume and I was considering migrating it over to Klipper. I'm wondering if this printer would be a significantly easier option. Sounds like it has all the features I wanted to add to my Creality right out of the box. Do you guys think this would be a good upgrade for me? I print a lot of practical stuff like brackets, hangers, proto type pieces, spacers and things like that. Lonest print I ever did was about 24 hours to print out a carburetor work stand.

I ended up pulling the trigger on it. I grabbed the model with the enclosure. I have an Ender 3v2 and it's been fine. But wanted the larger build space and really like the feature set. Now if it just works.

What that's not cheap. $75 would have been easier to handle. At Around $650 it's going to have to perform well to make a solid case.

The SV08 has a much larger print volume. It also has better part cooling and a direct drive extruder and higher flow hotend. Modifying the Ender 6 is also an option, but I would change it to a direct drive hotend with more cooling and a different hotend to take advantage of the higher motion speed.
