I mentioned this in one of the miracle grow threads, these bags are mostly shredded/mulched wood that hasn't been fully composted yet. There was no plastic trash in any of the 10 bags I purchased. I'll try to post a picture of the quality.

This is much better deal than currently $2 Miracle Gro on sale at HD. It is 1.0 cu ft and feds up to 9 months. In comparison, the on-sale Miracle Gro at HD is 0.75 cu ft and feds up to 3 months.

Now I have to return 12 Gardner garden soil at walmart bought for $4.97 for 2 cu feet
the soil at walmart are good quality. I kept them. I bought the sta-green a few years ago. Very little soil in them. I gave them a try again this year. Hopefully when they update the bags, they also improve on the soil. I will never try miracle gro again. Try multiple times, each times is trash.

Worth the 20% extra? I dont mind keeping it. How did you like it this year?

I wanted to fill in some low areas as well and this might actually be cheaper than the bags of topsoil.
Just my thought, if you have a compost spreader , then you can combine 2 : 1 ratio with other top soil. That way you would get good quality for your lawn n the remaining of the fillers you can spread on your garden bed if you have any.

I think the Walmart one is even better than the Organic bags I got from Costco, which had big chunks of wood. No idea if anything will grow since I just put it down.

I will also get some at Lowes to compare.

if anyone can report whether this is actually soil, and not just mulch plus plastic and other trash (like the miracle grow soil), please comment with your data points.
It is exactly what it is... Mulch of sticks and bark with some compost and it DOES have TRASH in it. I bought 5 bags today to mix into my raised beds And while spreading the bags, I found several pieces of trash from each bag. Pieces of aluminum can, weed eater, string, wire, plastic bag, hard plastic. I was wanting what the front of the bag said... soil. This will be soil eventually, in a year or 3, but it is mulch at this point. I posted a photo in my review on the Lowe's website of some of the trash I pulled out if anyone wants to see.

You do not want to use this as fill dirt. This is mostly mulch. Lots of sticks and bark mixed in with compost. This needs to be mixed into the soil for it to decompose further. Right now it's too hot to just try to plant in and will burn your plants if used alone.

A cubic yard of topsoil will be cheaper at your local nursery, if you require large quantities.

FYI any soil that says feeds for 9 months implies it has a very high mulch content so don't be surprised if it is very very mulchy.

Not a bad idea - I was thinking about mixing various materials together.

I think it's better than the miracle gro. I had one large stick in each bag, but otherwise very good.

I did this a few months ago and the low spot that I filled the seeds grew almost immediately. One of the healthiest spots in my yard now.

I purchased 5 bags of sta-green from Lowes & 5 bags of Miracle Gro from HD.

I used the sta-green as a topping in my flower beds and to fill a hole from a large plant I dug up. The sta-green is very mulch-like, which honestly, I was kind of happy with. The 1st 4 bags were fine, the 5th smelled horrible, just like that nasty colored mulch. It very well could just have been a different supplier, I'm going to check the coding near the upc. I had a huge issue a few years ago with a supplier for Black Kow manure, code TRM. Will NEVER buy a TRM again. TMI, I know, sorry.

Opened 1 bag of the Miracle Gro, and is more soil like. No large pieces, no sticks or garbage. Going to save these for dh to fill in the low spots in the lawn & reseeding.
