While I agree induction is nice, my range is induction. But at this price you're not getting that anytime soon.

Maybe it's all the gas that you've inhaled...., but a very obvious logic here is that not everyone lives in a place that has access to gas.

Very YMMV and hugely dependent on Zip code.

Induction is worth the extra money, three or four times as much. I have a resistance Jennair electric cooktop at home, old high end, and we mostly just use the induction cooktop. When we go to our vacation home with the six burner Wolf propane range and oven, I long for the cheapo induction cooktop back home. I can't justify replacing the Wolf, throwing away an $8000 appliance, but I'd like to.

Sub Zero does make a heck of a fridge, though.

That's good to hear. I have a portable induction burner I use for boiling and time based cooking like rice, or pasta... something I can set a timer and it turns off on its own. If it's greasy I place a paper towel on the burner and under the pan and it catches all the grease. I have yet to have it burn. I did put a cork mat under and that did burn, weird, but lesson learned.

I just wasn't sure if the more powerful induction stoves baked on the foods.

I want to get an induction stove but have yet to find a good deal on one. Right now we have exposed coil stove.
Pro tip. Use silpat silicone mats for cooking on induction. Makes cleaning easy and they are heat resistant. I just put the mats in the dishwasher

It takes a gas oven way too long to preheat. I have an LG electric convection. Takes about 6 minutes to get to 425-450. Now the cooktop elements are another story.

How's the clean up on your induction, does splattered food or spilled food get baked on the way all other glass tops do?
There are purpose formulated chemicals for coaxing glass tops, but try a coat of ammonia + a bit of time before scraping.

I would not get unless it's inductive.
For $379!? If true, it's a NO BRAINER if you can use electric ranges of course. Even if you don't use the SELF CLEANING feature, the oven is better insulated than a non-self clean. So, little hands won't get burned touching the oven door and the kitchen won't get to hot to be standing around in while baking.

Induction is always way higher priced. I do like induction, but most people have to purchase all new pots and pans. Must be a ferrous metal. (Can't use aluminum, copper or glass).
At this price, if you don't like the range after even a year, you should be able to re-sell it for close to the same price.
I sold appliances for years and G.E ranges were always rated better than average. Haier(China) purchased G E appliances around 2016, so I'm not sure how well the brand has been since.

Aren't the feds giving everyone who makes under 150K a "free" electric stove worth up to $850 sometime this year?

So far no, it's super easy to clean. I hated having to use special cleaners and sometimes even a razor blade on my old electric cooktop. But honestly my favorite part about induction is the speed/control, it really is pretty cool. The con being you generally have to get more expensive pans.
This might be a very unpopular opinion but I use a scour pad on my LG glass top and haven't seen any noticeable scratches. I finished it off with Weiman cleaner to shine it up. Not sure if induction tops are different.

Oh man, seriously?! Going to see if they will price match my last order or if I need to cancel.

Edit: For anyone considering shipping, it appears they've altered the shipping cost from $29 to $79, so you'd be saving $50 less. I'm going to call tomorrow during customer service hours and see if they'll just price adjust for me.
Did you get the shipping cost fixed to $29 ?

FYI for anyone looking:

Haul away of the old appliance is free if you sign up for a Lowes for Pros account

There's also free installation & delivery as long as you buy the $33 "install kit" (just a new cord)
