1) Use a shorter hose or an undamaged one that may be leaking in spots
2) Check your water pressure overall. (Example: My faucet had its stop washer replaced but the kit also had a backflow check 'valve' angled rubber washer that significantly constricted the water flow out ward, once that was removed the pressure returned to normal as the original version of the faucet did not use one but came in the replacement kit for some reason)
The newer tops seem to be more sensitive to lower water pressure and fail to then have enough force to cause the suction action lifting the chemical into the flow, since it works on a tangential suction design instead of a flow-through design.
There are separate larger containers you can get at home stores, made by Ortho or others that allow you to control the flow rate and use a much thicker hose to bring up the chemicals. A one time $10 purchase can let you reuse that (and the 40 oz refill bottles) for years instead of dealing with the cheap included ones on the 32 oz ready-to-use ones. And also control the rate, which is good for using other chemicals like bug killers and similar.
Edit: Seems prices skyrocketed since last year when I paid $7 or $8. I see they are $15+ for the Ortho sprayer now. But still worth it IMO.

I believe the Spectracide version only has Off and On positions. The Bayer has a water setting, I believe.
Buy this version and you can purchase the refill and pour it right into this sprayer. It's what I've been doing as you get an extra 8oz.

Glad to see some places letting dandelions and clovers grow. weeds are beneficial. screw your mono-cultured flat boring grass and HOAs.
Yeah. I just mow and water the lawn. I've got more weeds around which brings in more bees, birds, and rabbits.
