Scammer's haven. fark eBay. I'm still fighting a "same zip code delivery" scam on eBay. I had proof the scammer sent a fake package to someone else in the same zip. eBay sided with the scammer, which didn't make sense. I then realized that eBay makes money by taking my money. I issued a chargeback, and eBay said I got my package by sending the scammer's fake tracking number to my card issuer, and reversed the chargeback. Seriously, fark eBay. They're not a neutral arbiter. They're thieves. I'm out $460. I'm still angry.

While that sucks to hear about your personal experience, it has little relevance here.

Pretty sure Newegg won't pull that kind of stunt here.

In the case of a dispute, eBay is motivated to rule in favor of whatever makes them money If there's a problem with your order. This means if you're a buyer, they're inclined to rule in favor of the seller in order to take a cut of your money. eBay's "money back guarantee" means absolutely nothing. I'm sure other people have negative experiences with eBay that can chime in, as well. I hope they go out of business.

Yea I agree 100 % about Ebay, full of scammers hot gluing stuff together to get it to work long enough to get it sold and run!! I just ordered a used projector on Ebay and it came in a box with no padding and the box was crushed and I heard pieces rattling around. I refused the package and Ebay REFUSED to refund my money I went to Ebay claim then disputed the claim and had to end up going to Paypal and wait for another 3 weeks for them to process the claim to finally get my money back!! Not only are Ebay sellers scammers but Ebay itself stinks!! Closed my Ebay account after that one!! But as mentioned this is from Newegg so probably legit and the price is just ok since Nvidia is having a hard time selling GPU's lately!

File a claim through Paypal ( no longer owned by Ebay) then after that always use a debit or credit card if using paypal ( never give them bank account direct access) so you can file a chargeback if nothing else works!

I'm glad you were able to get your money back. I used a credit card that I still have an open dispute/appeal with. Like everybody else, I thought I had two safety nets:

#1 eBay's money back guarantee
#2 my credit card.

For #1, eBay says it's only MBG if I'm unhappy with the item.
For #2, eBay gaslit my credit card provider to claw back my money. Now, I'm in a Kafkaesque situation pleading my innocence - when in reality I'm the one who got scammed.

I genuinely hope it works out for you all. I knew the risks, and yet my dispute with my credit card is still in limbo.

Here's how it all happened:
- On eBay, I buy an Nvidia 4070 from a seller with 100% rating with 22 transactions.
- The scammer provides a fedex tracking number.
- A few days later, I receive notification package is delivered but no delivery shows up on my security camera.
- I report "item not received" to seller. Seller is non-responsive. I file dispute.
- eBay sides with seller, citing tracking number says delivered.
- I drive to fedex warehouse, and was able to ask an acquaintance to print the actual destination scan. It was delivered to a warehouse a mile away from me and signed off by some guy.
- I send this proof from fedex to eBay in an appeal.
- eBay closes my appeal and rules in favor of the seller, because the seller's tracking number shows the package was delivered. The fact that I provided proof that it was delivered to an address that was NOT mine meant nothing. Malicious compliance. This is when I realized eBay protects scammers for their own benefit. The next day, my negative review on the seller's eBay profile is deleted, and the seller goes from 89% back to 100%. The seller's trap is set for the next victim.
- I call eBay and talk with their foreign CSRs. The CSRs are unhelpful and are just reading from a script. After an hour, I escalate my case to the manager who opens a "manual review".
- Meanwhile, I'm googling cases like mine, and they all get tossed because eBay just wants to keep my money. So I call my credit card provider and report a fraudulent charge.
- eBay notifies me that they closed my manual review, and basically said, "We were going to help you, but you charged us in the back with a chargeback. Apparently, that hurt our feelings. So, now we're NOT going to help you, and you should work with your credit card provider from now on."
- eBay then fights against my chargeback case, saying I claimed I didn't receive the item, but the seller's tracking number proves the item was delivered. My credit card closes my case and reverses my chargeback. Now, I'm appealing the case with the fedex proof of delivery.

eBay is a scumbag marketplace that enables scummy scammers to proliferate on their platform. eBay intentionally turns a blind eye because they profit from scammers. I discovered that this kind of scam has been around for years and years. The fact that eBay deleted my negative review, thus giving the the guy that scammed me a perfect 100% rating is infuriating as hell.

Just to add, Yes Ebays buyers protection is a complete joke. Once for a company gift we purchased an expensive designer bracelet from Ebay from what looked to be a reputable jewelry shop from another state. We had to go through them cause they are the only ones who had it. When we got the product we found out that it was a fake and the stone in it was a fake, the COD they had was also a fake. Took almost 6 months of charge backs before we got our credit card company to call ebay and tell them to shove it cause our multi billion dollar company was not going to be scammed by some jewelry shop, so we fought it on principal. Only other protection thats just as bad is SWAPPA, if you ever buy a phone and have an issue on there, god have mercy on your soul.

Since eBay is making some people nervous, you can just buy it straight from Newegg [newegg.com]. I know people have had issues with Newegg, too, but it's an option.

You have two more options here: 1) file in small claims court. It will take months of waiting, but I can all-but-guarantee that 24 hours before you are supposed to go to court, you will get a call or email from in-house counsel asking you to settle. They will cut you a check for the full amount and have you sign a release that gets filed with the court to dismiss the case. Your ebay account may or may not get closed at their leisure. Option 2) Go on linkedIn and find one or two or three of their Senior Legal Counsel. Figure out their email address (it shouldn't be hard) and send in a polite letter telling them only the facts of what happened, attach your documentation, and ask them to route it to the right person to be looked over. In fact, I'd probably do Option 2 first, and then if no traction in a month or so, go for Small Claims. You will also get your filing fees back if you make that a condition of signing the release from the in-house counsel.

You did better than me I never got throught to Ebay. Yea Ebay pulled the same crap with me. The seller told Ebay the item was delivered and the tracking clearly 100% showed refused on Ebay's tracking, on the Ebay item list and on my purchased history all 3 showed package refused yet some Ebay joker closed my case "due to tracking shows item was delivered!" How is this possible I have no idea so I just think ok I got an 80 IQ Ebay worker so I will just dispute the decision, 2 hours later I get an email the decision is final and the dispute is closed so I go to Paypal and start my claim. The cherry on top was I got a warning from Ebay for "falsely" claiming I didn't recieve the clearly refused package!!!!! Meanwhile the seller has a "rest assured free shipping and free returns" mark on his sales page but that means nothing and Ebay doesn't honor the fact it was returned and the seller doesn't honor it and makes me go through the entire Paypal process. The last day for the seller to respond he responds with the tracking information so this delays the entire process by 2 more weeks but eventually Paypal realises the item was returned and refunded my money but all in all it was a VERY painful process and I was sweating it after Ebay refused to refund twice!! I still had Paypal and even a chargeback after that but a chargeback can take 3 or more months and the last thing I want to be doing is respond to and tracking a chargeback process for that long, I just have better things to do ( like read and post on slickdeals Stick Out Tongue ) good luck, I hope it works out for you! Paypal buyer protection requires that the person has the money available to refund you so if they clean out their paypal and don't have a balance you can be just out of luck getting money back from Paypal! The thing is if Ebay refunds your money they refund the sellers fees if they make Paypal do it Ebay keeps the fees so they aren't motivated to help you at all!

P.S. if someone signed for your package and you have their name and address I would think a police report would be in order!

Newegg is a legit Ebay seller and as someone else said you can buy it straight from them [newegg.com]. It may be a better deal buying it from their website as you could get combo saving if you are buying another item like a motherboard or an Amex Offer to take some additional money off. I got this card for $659 because I bought it with a motherboard that was a part of a combo deal and had an AMEX offer for 2% off so an additional $13 off.

Bro, forreal, I'm glad you got your money back. It looks like I should have used Paypal. I actually got burned by an eBay-Paypal purchase in 2018, so I used my credit card this time, but I still got burned, lol.

Yeah, my package was signed off by someone at a gated warehouse full of trucks. Seems like they get a lot of packages, so this person likely didn't know what they were signing for. And my package probably contained a worthless keychain flashlight. But, yes, I'll need to go to the police station if my credit card chargeback fails. I'm totally looking forward driving to the police station and filing a report... not. I don't know about y'all, but $460 is a lot of money for me to lose. It seemed like a good deal but it turned out to be too good to be true. Please don't be dumb like me thinking you can out-smart these professional scammers... by which, I mean eBay, of course.

Yes, buy directly on newegg.

Ya know it's funny cause for me i'll be like oh this is only $10 i'll risk it but if I get ripped off somehow it doesn't matter if s $10 or $1k I still get just as mad just at the fact I got ripped off! The seller was only 2 states away IDC if it would have cost me twice what i got ripped off for to take a week off and for gas and hotels, I would have been knocking on his door! In the end the seller got stuck with Ebay fees and I got a complete refund when he could have just refunded it through Ebay and not had to pay any fees! And he kept his feedback, it is still there!

The seller I bought from had thousands of sales 95% positive ( I mean there is no pleasing some people so can't be perfect rating right) and a free return policy and was backed by Ebay's money back guarantee so......what could go wrong....... FK EBAY!
