Good or junk?
Junk.

Save your money and get an analog carbon pile such as

Schumacher BT-100 Battery Load Tester and Voltmeter - 100 Amp, Black

https://www.amazon.com/Schumacher...B000AMBOI0

Digital tester is based on their programming on when to replace and you don't know what formula they used. I compared this Ancel with TopDon. Ancel said health 40% replace while TopDon said heath 55% ok.

$21 for a 12v battery tester is a ripoff.
Not just a battery tester, also tests the charging and cranking systems. Definitely beats having to take your battery out and test it inside of an auto parts store. You only need to connect the clips to the battery without having to take it out or drive anywhere or calling AAA or roadside assistance.

Damn,

I purchased this exact model in October last year except I paid 39.99 +tax.
I have no qualms as it works great and good reviews.
Got it soon after when my car batt died and left me stranded since I left my jumper at home lol.

21.23 is a much more reasonable price than what I paid though.

What's the difference between the OP's listed item and this one [amazon.com] for $16.73 after 21% off coupon and an additional coupon for 10% off?

Is it pretty much a matter of if it's <50% (less than 50 percent) this thing says to replace?

I ask as I had my battery tested yesterday and it said:

SOH: 49%
SOC: 48%
12.29V
565A
Int.R: 5.31 m-ohms

Looks like they were using an AUTOOL BT360.

I concur, I have this exact same one we use for our car dealership.
and there used to be an used battery store we go for years before they shut down, they also used an analog battery tester.
analog one actually puts a load on the battery.
digital one can work but not these handheld ones, it's gotta be a a big commercial ones the auto shop uses which it puts a load on the battery

Does this actually test a battery? ones ive used put a load on the battery, not sure how this would work to see if its actually bad and has the amperage to actually start a car.

No. It doesn't put a load on it. It just analyzes voltage without load and do a proprietary calculations on whether it is OK, RECHARGE/RETEST, or REPLACE. Other manufacturers of digital testers use their own calculations and could give different recommendations on the same battery.

Which is why I've always found these things borderline worthless. Either the battery works or it doesn't. It's the battery 98% of the time, not the starter. So if your battery is 4+ years old and car's just clicking, no need for this half-assed test. Buy a new battery and move on.

What would you use to test a lawn tractor agm battery rated 230cca 11ah? These testers start at higher ah rating.
