I have it... works great. Can test charging/alternator while car is running also!
The nice thing about the built in ones is that they monitor your battery for its whole life so they have a good grasp on how your battery is performing, and your vehicle knows what performance it needs out of the battery before it will notify you of a bad battery.
If you ever notice your Auto Start/Stop function isn't working for multiple days in a row, this sensor might be giving the PCM a reading that will prevent the Auto Start/Stop from activating and it's an early warning for you that you may need a new battery (or at least battery conditioning) soon. I say might because there are several factors that determine whether the Auto start/stop will activate or not (outdoor temperature, interior temperature, defrost activated, etc) so this isn't a sure sign, just a possible clue.
Let me ask you guys, when do you typically change your car battery? My Dad was the type of guy that never changed his battery until the car wouldn't start (without leaving the lights on or something).
I got in the habit of changing mine before or during the winter if the battery was old enough (4-5 years), or if I noticed any hint of a struggle to start in cold weather.
The last time I went to Advance to ask them to check my battery because it seemed kinda weak. It tested good (never had one not test good), so I took it out of the car and asked them to charge it while I waited for about an hour.
I come back an hour later, and they'd killed my battery with the 50 AMP charger. Had to buy another one right then.
My battery is $160 at Advance now. My battery was $80 at Costco. It's $99 now after inflation. If you guys have multiple cars, join Costco just for the batteries. One battery every year or two will pay for the membership on it's own. My friend's Hyundai battery was $220 at Advance, and $120 at Costco, but we were in a bind.

Just like that, you may not be in the best position to drive the car to the Auto Parts store to get it scanned. Then you'll probably have to take the battery out of the car and drive another car cuz the battery is probably dead or dying if you're testing it.
Most cars don't start because you've left the lights on, or because you haven't driven the car for a while. The latter is a battery charger really helps. You can charge your battery like once a month, or if it's completely dead you can charge it as opposed to sitting with your cars in jump position for half an hour. I've used mine so many times for me and for other people.
Those mini car jump starters are nice, but I was reading the reviews, and people say it works like once or twice, then never works again. I don't see a point in spending $40-50 for something I can't depend on in a jam.
