I'd say if someone is in the market for a right side blade circular saw, this is definitely a better buy for not much more than the 13 Amp lower quality one that I think you're referring to.

I have this exact saw, and used to own the SKIL 14 Amp saw before purchasing this one (my dad ran it with the car some years ago). Quality-wise, it's like night and day. It's small things that you don't think about as a homeowner. Compared to the regular SKIL, it has better balance and lower center of gravity, the trigger mechanism is much nicer, and the list keeps going. As a weekend warrior, I would highly recommend this saw.

for me, the quality of the blade is what matters most. would be nice if this came with a 60 tooth Diablo blade.
Doesn't matter, blades are cheap and constantly replaced

I'm in for one. I pretty much killed my old one cutting retaining wall blocks. The concrete dust reeked havoc on it.

Bought the 15 amp 7-1/4 5280-01 with the laser a few weeks ago on sale at a bunch of places. Tried looking up comparisons to see the difference but could find much information. Does anyone know which model is better or serve different purposes?

How is this a good deal? These used to be $30 regular price. It's not even magnesium. Meaning it's more heavy.

Magnesium version is $99 for 1.5lbs. less weight. Loan this heavy one to your neighbor,
and not worry about it. Big Grin

The magneseum model is definitely the one you want (SPT67WM-22). I snagged one on clearance a couple years back for $80 and couldn't be happier.

FYI: SKIL is the consumer grade while SKILSAW is the professional grade.

Even though the magnesium is nicer, we're looking at double the price.

Um 😐 how about when your mooch neighbors ask to borrow tools you just say NO. Because usually you won't get it back or if you do actually get it back it will be broken or abused because it's not theirs so they don't take care of it.

Don't sidewinder-style circ saws usually have the blades on the left side, like the Dewalt and Milwaukee?

Great saw, but hate how they skimp you with the 24 teeth saw blade. 24 teeth blade is ok for general contractor grade rough cross cuts. You're going to have to spend $25 additional for 60 T up blade, if you want to do smooth cuts. But as of recent I've been very impressed with Skil's quality of power tools.
