You really don't want "updates". Microsoft has been silently removing features from programs (including older ones) and putting them inside Office 365 that youn have to pay for with a monthly subscription. Notice the feature "Voice Dictation" is now gone. An update REMOVED it from a program you already purchased, but it's now a "feature" in office 365. This should should not be happening.

Guaranteed to be the case. Groupon may cover you for the initial activation but it may be revoked at any given time so you could get months or a year or years out of it. At this point, if you are clearly buying a grey market key just pirate it instead. Don't pay someone $20 to do the pirating for you and so you can pretend you actually purchased a legitimate license.

Office 365 really isn't a bad price when you factor in the cloud storage, Single license are pretty cheap and the family plan can be even cheaper per user.

I have been the open source and free suite, using Libre Office for years without any issues.

Be careful with Groupon. They have a lot of "grey" market sites on there that will just take your money. I tried to buy Office off groupon from a shopify site and got nothing, no office. Had fight to get my money back.
