$33 for a small meyer lemon? This is no deal, you'll find them cheaper in many big box stores with regularity throughout the season, or can get much, much larger ones for not a whole lot more from nurseries.
I bought 2 of these about a year ago. Suppose to be easy to grow. Both died about 3 months after I got them. Don't waste your time or money.
These were about $8 in Walmart clearance last fall. My lemon tree isn't doing well, but the lime tree has a lime growing already.

$32 seems a bit high. I bought one from local nursery last year for $25 and it's doing great.

2 years ago my local HD (bell nursery reps) dumped their whole stock in the dumpster after a "freeze". It was maybe mid to upper 30s.

They said they were all dead and could take up to 2 days. I knew they were OK because I've had a few and know they can withstand a day in that kind of temp.

I plucked about 30 lemon trees and maybe 4-5 lime trees. I gave about 10-15 away for random people who did work around the house. Gave some to family. I ended up with about 10 or so thriving from that pluck. I don't think any have died. I have them on a pallet that i roll into the garage at the first sign of an overnight freeze under 32-33degrees. And then i roll them back out of garage when temps are consistent in the 40's or higher.

Lemon trees need a lot of fertilizer. Small amounts multiple times is better. Do you have some pictures? Are you watering regularly in the winter? Of course not as much watering as the summer. If you have an agriculture extension office many of them have much better advice than nursery people. If your leaves are yellow you could have nitrogen deficiency, water deficiency, inadequate drainage, or even iron deficiency. If you can make an environment where earthworms want to come such as mulch you will help your drainage a lot.

This. I live near several commercial nurseries. Trucks come and pick up loads of trees each day - some go to big boxes, some go to local nurseries. The only difference is how they are cared for once they arrive at their retail destination - the nursery will almost always take better care of them, but I've seen some Lowes and Homes Depot that have well managed nursery staff, but they are in the minority. Get your trees, bushes and plants on delivery day for best chances.

"Many" don't as well. Even if they do, when supplies dwindle they "may" supplement their regional stock for varieties that are not suitable for your region.

"Many" / "May" = huge assumptions

Not sending this deal to my wife. She's under the impression that you can throw a fruit tree in any soil and not pay attention to it and fruit will magically appear. She's gone through 6 fruit trees that all died.

She is a certified tree killer, can we stop her buying more. My wife want to pick some rose bushes and I said no. I knew better she would have killed them. Lol

Citrus is highly watched by CA due to that bug that kills them and never ripens the fruit. Just look at Florida as an example.
