Well, this "overweight obnoxious old boomer" who's been giggin with Lesters for over 45 years (probably longer than you have been alive) knows it's all about tone. Can't speak for this particular model or finish but tone has nothing to do with projecting "a certain image". Tone is about personal preference and whatever works for you and your style of playing is what you should play.

Quote from Budderbear :
You bought this @ $2400, and now it's $1856... so who's the short sighted one? I'm sure it's a lovely guitar, but so are much more affordable ones. Like a $50 leather wallet from Cabelas vs a $500 one from Gucci. Both great wallets, but one has tremendous mark up because of a name.
You seem to be overlooking the resale value of Gibsons.

It's almost like investing in artwork at this point… they retain their value and can be resold for close to what you spent on initial purchase, if not more as years go by. Gibson as a brand is iconic and will always fetch a higher price point, but by the same metric they will also retain their value in a way that a Gucci wallet will not, or buying a used luxury car will not. So it's not really a fair comparison.

i wonder if this got returned, bc another popped up a cpl days ago, and I gave into temptation. It was advertised as new, i wish i'd screenshotted it when this was posted, to see if it was the same serial.
Anyway, i got it for ~$100 less than this, actually, since there's a 20% off storewide code...
I do wonder if the mkt's so bad that I would've been able to find a proper LP for less had I kept looking, but this does look about as low as they go, and I can return for $10 if it's not up to snuff..

damn this site. i'd switched to cheap Chinese copies for so long and in the last two weeks i bought this and an American Pro II Tele, telling myself they'll never be this cheap again.
But Epiphone's are selling for close enough to $1750, i like satin far more than gloss, and the only traditional color burst I still lack is a cherry one..

but i don't need another guitar. oh well, now that i think about it, i don't know if anyone would've been able to buy it and return it, and them get it relisted in what, 5d? Seems a bit tight, no?
apologies re the wall of text, this thread's dead
