How is stating a fact that this product is made in China (and nearly all the ones named like this are as well) racist?

But hey, as long as you're "pretty sure".

These are not terrible cameras, there are much worse out there, but fact of the matter is these random generic names last until the products start failing or they get sued over something, at which point they change to a different name. They trademark and get web domains en masse and just cycle through them over time. Some of the better ones may last a year or two, others a month.

The reason the names are so random and nonsensical is they are required to trademark to sell on amazon, walmart, etc, and it is much easier to trademark gibberish than actual words, especially when you need to frequently change your name.

Look at their website, all cameras are sold out and they don't even list this one. They are in the process of closing up shop.

Not much of a review but I got something like this from Nexpow last year and I sent it back. It has a cigarette lighter power source, plus you can't see anything while you're driving, if there is a screen it's minimal. And it's SD storage based so you have to remove it and download the videos to review. I have a really old simple camera and wanted to upgrade, but I preferred what I had to this. Would NOT recommend it.

20FPS isn't going to cut it, among other reasons why this is a bad Idea.

Wonder how hard this is to remove for temporary setup etc from the mounting bracket.

I wonder what the sensor model is. A lot of these 4K are up-scaled. Would be nice to know if what is native resolution of the image sensor.
It's likely a IMX334LQR-C.

Getting native 4K is not hard these days, especially since this is a Starvis 1 and its successor has been out a couple years.

Where most of these sensors are lacking is light sensitivity.

This whole comment thread is one of the most errant and unhelpful I've ever seen on here. A front+back dashcam with 4k, GPS, and a screen for $40 is a killer deal. I'm buying one right now and if the deal is still up by the time I get it I'll let you know how it goes.

Can't argue with someone who doesn't even understand basic video processing.

Yes, movies are generally 23FPS, which is why motion blur is present in all of them.

Does motion blur sound like something you would want in your dash cam footage?

Think.
Motion blur is mostly caused by compression. 20FPS is plenty to see everything you could ever want to see in an accident situation unless they're going like 200MPH diagonally to the view of the camera. These cameras aren't great, but for the price they're pretty good from what I've seen of them. I'd much rather have 20FPS at lower compression than 30 or 60 at higher. Considering uncompressed 4K or even 1080P would fill up the max 128G memory card extremely quickly (not to mention needing a memory card with extremely high write speed and amazing endurance), compromises have to be made. 60FPS with higher compression is going to be worse than 20 with lower when it comes to trying to read moving license plates, see someone holding their phone while driving, etc.

I've never seen motion blur in a movie theater or blu ray, and 23-24 FPS is standard on both. If you're seeing motion blur (especially to the point you can't read a license plate in the movie) in those scenarios, something isn't set up right or the equipment is no good.

The most important thing is the quality of the image sensor. If this one actually has the Sony sensor it claims to, it is a decent one. The amount of compression is the TBD part though. 4k 20FPS plus 1080P for the rear is going to require a lot of compression to store a reasonable amount of time on a 128G card.

Pretty sure Nexpow has had retail presence in Walmart on shelves, so your assessment is just low effort racism.

What's the etymology for "Starbucks", again?

From my experience with wired IP cameras, 20fps doesnt capture license plates for crap.

30fps is slightly better if the object is moving past the camera <15mph maybe you can make out the letters and numbers. 20 is a blurry mess.

But assuming you want to cover yourself against some insurance scammer that cuts you off and slams on the breaks this would be just fine.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Are you an alt for that other guy's account?

Motion blur has no relation to compression.

Want easy proof? It's present in video recorded on ACTUAL FILM.

Where do you come up with this nonsense?

šŸ˜„ Stop it. Nexpow has never been on any Walmart shelves. It's only ever been available online through 3rd party sellers.

The GPS data is embedded in a separate file from the video.

However, there might be overlays you can bake into the video.

Typically, it's just time and date, but even that can get you into trouble with the right math.

And, yes, I can be "pretty sure" that I've seen this brand sitting on a shelf in Walmart sometime in the past 5 years, just as well as that guy can be "pretty sure" that they're just another randomly generated brand name.

They typically don't do dash cams, so it was probably a jump starter.
Walmart has never carried any of these Nexpow, Avapow, Hompow...etc jump starters in a brick and mortar location.

Your likely only familiar with them due to the shill posts like these posted by SD staff that are sponsored by 3rd party sellers like AUTO-DIRECT as well as Amazon sellers with "coupon codes".

Up until and including today, Walmart has only ever carried Jump Starters made by brands like EverStart, Schumacher, Stanley...etc on their actual store shelves.
