How is stating a fact that this product is made in China (and nearly all the ones named like this are as well) racist?

But hey, as long as you're "pretty sure".

These are not terrible cameras, there are much worse out there, but fact of the matter is these random generic names last until the products start failing or they get sued over something, at which point they change to a different name. They trademark and get web domains en masse and just cycle through them over time. Some of the better ones may last a year or two, others a month.

The reason the names are so random and nonsensical is they are required to trademark to sell on amazon, walmart, etc, and it is much easier to trademark gibberish than actual words, especially when you need to frequently change your name.

Look at their website, all cameras are sold out and they don't even list this one. They are in the process of closing up shop.

Not much of a review but I got something like this from Nexpow last year and I sent it back. It has a cigarette lighter power source, plus you can't see anything while you're driving, if there is a screen it's minimal. And it's SD storage based so you have to remove it and download the videos to review. I have a really old simple camera and wanted to upgrade, but I preferred what I had to this. Would NOT recommend it.

20FPS isn't going to cut it, among other reasons why this is a bad Idea.

This whole comment thread is one of the most errant and unhelpful I've ever seen on here. A front+back dashcam with 4k, GPS, and a screen for $40 is a killer deal. I'm buying one right now and if the deal is still up by the time I get it I'll let you know how it goes.

There's more to dashcams than just the erroneous marketing buzzwords like resolution and other gimmicks.

The thread won't be going anywhere so do update back again when you receive the item. I'm curious on how well it works. Best of luck!

170 degree FOV is terrible. It's so wide you get a gross fisheye/distortion.

a lot of RED flags with this dash cam

1- seller - a third party - AUTO Direct (copy and paste their info from wal-mart website)(just click on view seller information) Direct LINK [walmart.com]

Business Name: shenzhenshidingshidianzishangwuyouxiangongsi
(+86) 18679855371
shenzhenshilonggangqubantianjiedao
bantianshequhuangjingshan2xiang1hao603
Shenzhenshi, GD 518129, CN

This is a throwaway seller account with 85% rating..WITH fake reviews included

2 - camera
4K front at 170 degree view + rear camera for $40 ? based on the specs this is one of those FAKE 4K dashcams where they will upscale 720P, 900P or 1080P to some stretched out 4K resolution. You can see the native resolution when you view the movie files on a desktop/laptop. The native resolution is usually 720P, 900P or 1080p.

20fps for dashcam ? fake 5 star reviews on wal-mart, fake specifications, only available on wal-mart through a throw away seller account, no video review of the dashcam on youtube, no video footage of night driving..

TOO MANY RED FLAGS-- this camera is probably $5 at most with the life expectancy of 2-3 months..This thing will die within a week when temperature gets to 100+ degree.

If you have $40+ to spend on a dashcam then put that $40+ toward a reliable brand from a reputable seller. Look for ones with good night driving footage. Be sure to get a MicroSD card that is rated for dashcam too.

It's sad to see products from scammers being promoted here..

Have you been in an accident?

Cops don't review footage on the scene. With how lazy they are, you're lucky they take statements. And tickets are only written if there's a clear traffic violation.

The footage is for your insurance company first and foremost.
My daughter was in an accident. The cop did review the footage on the scene.

Yep this is a fake 4k camera. My guess is its at best a basic 1080 camera.

Buy a better 1080 camera around this price range than this. Check out dashcamtalk for reviews and forums for dashcams.

They will review the dashcam footage if you have it readily available since the video will become the important part of the collision investigation in determining traffic violations. They even recommend people having a dashcam in their vehicles since it will be helpful in "he said vs she said" collision with no witness or video available

I have been in an accident. I also stop at accidents if I have time to see if I can help (cpr/first aid, etc)

At one of these stops one of the vehicles did have a camera with the SD card in it. The driver had a blank as well. I had a laptop and a write blocker (stops the drive from being written to, an evidence thing).

The officer definitely reviewed the footage on the spot after I made a copy of it, and then logged the original for evidence, and even took notes.

So for anyone who wants to use an SD card, great. Based on my experience I entirely recommend carrying at least a spare so you can get a copy should you need to surrender for evidence, and if you want to go the extra mile a write blocker isn't a bad idea to preserve time stamps and things of that nature. I don't know what a good one costs anymore but it can't be more than 100 to get one.
Also carry a laptop to make a copy of the sd card.

Can you disable gps? Don't need the whole court to see my speed lol
On most dash cams you can turn off the speed from appearing on the video. I have mine turned off as well. The GPS on my camera shows the latitude and longitude overlay.

You either live in a slow town or that was a very bored cop.

The police departments themselves make no qualms that you should "expect the worst and hope for the best", so I don't know why you would want to make people think otherwise.

I'm glad that your particular issue got resolved that way, but that's always going to be a guaranteed outlier.

Police are not required to accept evidence during a traffic collision, especially if there's no perceivable traffic violation.

Like I said in a previous comment, the dash cam footage is primarily for your insurance company.
I was rear ended once and side swiped another. Dash cam footage was reviewed by the responding police both times. The guy that sideswiped me claimed I left my lane and hit him. I was very happy I had a dash cam to prove them wrong. The police reviewed the footage on site and ticketed him.

Guys. I was recently in an accident and had a working dashcam (not this one).

When my insurance agent called me (after reviewing the video) she said she placed liability on the other driver. You can see my dashcam collision video here. Anyone who has an accident video has a good selling point for their friends to run out and get one too.

No dash cam is going to tell you a card has failed until it completely fails.

You have to take it upon yourself to check the card regularly.

There's no alternative.

However, that's not what the comments were complaining about. They were saying that the only way to retrieve footage is to pull the card, while they expected some lazy solution via WiFi.

If this had that option and you did what they were wanting, you'd be in the same boat or worse.
Yeah, you have to check the display or LEDs on the unit daily. I like the voice feature on newer cameras where it tell you it's recording when you start your car.

I saw a few of these throw away seller accounts appearing on amazon every now and then trying to sell graphic cards at 40-50% less than the retail price. The account will be gone within 1-2 weeks. They were trying to sell 6700XT for $160 (NEW)....

These throw away seller accounts will be deleted after being reported on Amazon. They are only on Wal-mart for a reason.
